Well, it sounds good. But I'm not sure. I've heard of someone who

has been on Armour her entire adult life, and it hasn't assisted her

thyroid in doing it on it's own. But I'd like to think that there

might be a way....maybe someday someone will discover it.

Hi Topper,

Yah, me too. I guess I'll see if my body will heal itself. Wouldn't

that be grand?!! ;)

Zina,

Sure would.. and it's not like our giving it a try will hurt us.....

after all we'd have to take the meds whether our bodies heal or not ...so

why not go into it with a positive attitude... keeping in mind that even

if it doesn't work.. we at least gave it a fair shot!

Beats the heck out of looking back and saying " I wish I would have "

It's Janie. Esteemed owner of this fabulous group because of so many

fabulous people who make it fabulous.

Remarkably, I noticed a difference very soon---like in a week. T3

shows itself sooner than T4. But I didn't get to where I am today

until I found my optimal dose, which took a few months. It didn't

have to take that long---I had a bad doc who kept me on lose doses

FAR too long.

Mine is a prescription, and I get it filled at my local drug store. People

order it when they cannot get their docs to prescribe it. Drug stores do

carry it, it is an FDA regulated prescription medication, just like any

other. However, for some folks, desperate times call for desperate

measures...*smile*

My doctor just wanted to make sure nothing physical was wrong before I upped

my dose as MVP and high blood pressure runs in the family so I am wearing a

monitor and trying to make my heart race right now so he can record it. Ick.

,

When I took synthroid I did.. the only way I could control it was by

splitting doses until my body adjusted.... I cut the pills into thirds

and took on every 8 hours... That's why I'm so good at splitting pills

now..my initiation was splitting $ynthroid into thirds... hehehehe

your heart was racing on Armour because you were undertreated. am I right

that all you ever took was 1/4 grain=15mg???? You just need the right amount

of the right meds!!! My pulse was veyr rapid until I combined Armour with

progesterone.

Gracia

I know some of you have experienced nausea while on synthetic thyroid

hormones. Did you have any nausea when you switched to armour or for those of

you

who take cytomel, did this cause any nausea? My cardiologist wanted me to go

back on my synthroid while I do my heart monitor to initiate symptoms so I

just

took a tiny bit of synthroid and while it did make my heart race, my stomach

feels queasy. I am also supposed to add a small dose of cytomel but hesitate

to do that. I could do the armour, but it made my heart race far more than

synthroid did so I just don't know what to do at this point. Ack. Feeling

frustrated.

Hi Jan

I was brand new to MS in Aug of 99 when I was told I had it and my neurologist told me to take Avonex. I was so new I really didn't know their was different kinds. I was glad they had different ones to chose from. I never did really care for Avonex because of the side effects from it. My first year my MS was at its worse and I had a hard time telling if my Avonex was making me feel bad or just my MS was the cause. When you first start taking Avonex it will weaken you a little until your body gets use to it. I used Avonex for about 6 months. I then looked into the other MS meds after I learned more about them. I wanted one that seemed to have the least amount of side effects. Many suggested Copaxone and I am now still on Copaxone since that time period. I was so happy the first time I took it because I never had any side effects and I still never do. The MS meds like MS treat everyone different and some don't take well to Copaxone and have trouble with it. The good thing with the different meds you can always switch and try one of the other ones.

Copaxone, Rebif, Avonex, Beteseron, Navantrone

You can visit the different web pages to lern more about them. Copaxone has a really fine web page and you can get help from one of their nurses through MSWatch.

Question

I was just dx'ed with MS and am trying to make the decision on which medication to go on. Would you mind telling me what you are on and why you chose that one. It is all so confusing.

Jan -

I chose copaxone for much the same reasons as others: no side effects, just a daily shot. the daily shot is done with a small needle, and the copaxone comes with a lot of support, thanks to the teva neuroscience people. I picked my medication partly based on what I read, and partly based on responses from this group. it's been a year, and I have no complaints. I would recommend copaxone to anyone.

Jan,

I have been diagnosed since 1984, have never taken any of the drugs due to the experimental nature of them.

I have used alternatives very successfully. go to www.copingandprevailing.com

My daughter has chiari type 1 and ehlers. She wears a neck brace. Why is it

that when I raised her headboard of her bed 6 inches from the ground , her neck

pain went away? Has anybody heard of this?

Thanks,

Maybe it took the pressure off the neck and back of the head. That's why the

right pillow(s) is necessary for us. I also have an adjustable bed for the

same reason. Having my feet up helps take the pressure off so I don't get as

many spasms.

Hi guys..

I have had the head of our bed raised for years. It has helped me

sooooooooooooooooo much..... MANY years ago is was suggested by Dr.

Milhorat.

When the human body is lying down, the fluid dynamics of the body changes

dramatically. Making the body inclined helps gravity to work in our favor.

The CSF flow becomes more " normal " . In my case, I have a shunt, and it

helps soooooooooooooooooo much.

That being said, TTBOMK, raising the head of the bed is far better than

adding many pillows, wedges, etc...because since your body is still

supported in a STRAIGHT LINE by the mattress ( no bending at waist) It

allows a more efficient flow of the CSF.

I have done this for ages and REALLY miss it when I am traveling. ;-{ My

daughter has even raised the head of the guestroom bed in their home. (

She's a good kid!)

It's something that you might try...it really isn't counter-indicted at all

and you may see some good results..

Take care,

It's possible that gravity provides a little bit of traction ...

Great idea. I have both. The pressure probably subsided.
