Guest guest
Hi Janet, I had originally gone to the gyn because I was having weird symptoms. Hot flashes, blood sugar things, (I was 37ish) but my periods were still normal for me. Every 28 days, for 7 days. I told the dr I thought I was going into menopause. He said I was to young and wanted to put me on the pill. I refused that and ended up at a Nurse Practioners who prescribed me compounded P. I think I was doing up to 100mg during the 9 months or so I was on it. I would do it 14 days out of the month. After the first month or so, I started getting dizzy. I was told by my regular dr I had a inner ear thing due to a virus. I never had any symptoms of a virus. Then the depression, anxiety, heart palps all set it. Not knowing ANYTHING about P except that it was supposed to help me and prevent me from getting uterine cancer, I had no idea this could be the cause of all the weird problems. Of course, I got labeled a mental patient and ended up on AD's and anti anxiety meds. I was also diagnosed with Mitral Valve Prolapse. I lived 2 months in hell before the AD's kicked in. It brought me out of the depression but in the meantime my periods started getting longer. Lasting 8 or 9 days or longer some months. Then I would spot in between periods, then it was continual spotting. Mostly pink blood, never really any red blood. Only once in a while. All this time I was on the P still not knowing it was causing any problems. Before I had started the P, I had an MRI and ultrasounds and everything was normal. 6 months later ( I think) after I kept spotting, I had another ultrasound. I was told I had a fibroid and that was what was causing the bleeding. It was a very tiny one. I finally got my thinking somewhat better on the AD"s and started researching a little. I was convinced I had cancer and I told this to the drs. They told me I was to young. I went to a regular dr who told me I might have a pelvic infection. I said no I didn't but went along with the antibiotics for a month. Well, when those didn't work, (DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) he ordered up a biopsy (I had no idea to even ask for this at the beginning) This was 3 months after the fibroid diagnosis. Yup, there it was, endometrial cancer. 2 weeks later, I had a hyst. Thankfully it had not gotten to big, and was still a Stage 1b. All this time I continued on the P, STILL not knowing that this was still making me not feel well. I think after the hyst, I finally realized or something that this was the problem and stopped. I was PISSED. Not only was I a mental case, I ended up with cancer. I have asked and asked and asked many different drs and most say that I probably had it to begin with and the P just slowed it down. NO WAY!!!! My bleeding did not start until AFTER I was on the P. I have had a couple say that the P could have caused it. I don't think I will ever know. So now, if I hear of women with weird bleedings, I encourage them to get a biopsy. If I had had one at the beginning, I might have avoided a hyst. Guest guest
Hi Janet, Just so you know, I had normal pap smears. If you continue to spot and they determine it's not your urinary tract, I would encourage you go straight to the biopsy if you don't have to jump through to many hoops. I'm am fine in that the cancer has not returned but I have been struggling with many health issues due to the hormonal imbalance. Keep us posted and good luck ! Guest guest
Janet, For me, incontinence is a sign of low E and/or progesterone dominance. Spotting for me, can come when I have progesterone dominance and low E and the P is not getting to my uterus. How are you applying the P? Did you see Dr. Formby's article about progesterone dominance? I'll repost it for you. He tells us that there may be merit in P application with vaginal suppositories so the P gets to the uterus rather than systemically. I have been having success with it this month, but I have discovered I must use very small amounts or I get P dominance. Not enough P and I spot. I'm titrating in a small range now. Also, I have heard that sufficient E and testosterone helps with incontinence. Dr. Sebring told me the T helps with that. Personally, it has be E that is my Good. P dominance messes it up. In fact, if I don't have P dominance, then there is no trouble even without supplementing with E. Guest guest
laurel i think its low e too.. when i add more e i dont have the incontenance ....when i use lower dose of e i do. i think the blood is left over from my last period... it wasnt as usual not light but not as much as usual... usually when i get to the middle of the cycle around day 14,15 when i add the p i spot in the beginning. i am doing the hormones cyclically so i get my period and am also titratting. as different times of the month i get different symptoms...last month i did apply some vaginal p and didnt have any of these problems. just a little p. what about the e vaginally.. would that affect any fibroids? make them bigger? my gyn wanted me to use estrace in the vagina for the urinary problem...he suggested it the last time i was there..but he also said if i was to use the estrace not to use the hormones on the skin... only the estrace... and i didnt want to do that. i am trying to get on a system daily of e and then p from 14-28...as to get my period. it is still hard to understand e and p.. the symptoms can be from either, or. i am going to the uro dr. tomorrow morn. will see what they say. and like i said today i have not had any of it??????it seems when i am not using alot of e i get it. but does that mean i need to use tons of e for the rest of my life. isnt there anything you can do for it to have it get back into a normal state? i am only use a small amount of p...but like i said last month i inserted some vaginally ( thinking it would shrink fibroids, which by the way are not giving me any problems) and didnt have these problems. but now am having spotting, that maybe was caused by that??i dont know just rambling. thanks for all your help and suggestions are appreciated. janet

Guest guest
Janet, I spot if my E gets too low. What about a vaginal ultrasound? Have you had your E tested? I don't trust E cream at all for delivery of estradiol (other than with mucus membranes). I assume you know that P is anti-estrogen? Guest guest
hi everyone well i seen the urologist today... they did every test that there is to do.... bladder scan, urinalysis, cystoscope( i think that is what its called) they also filled my bladder with water to see how much it holds, also gave a pelvic exam and said i do not have fibroids ( my gyn always says i do) and next week i am going for a kidney scan even though she doesnt think anything is wrong with my kidneys just wants to be thorough. the diagnosis is overactive bladder. she also gave me a list of foods that irritate the bladder and of course the kegel exercise.. also no cranberry juice or cranberry pills which i do both.she says it irritates the bladder. she did say the estrogen i am taking is doing its job down there... that was good news. and that was it.... i have noticed since adding a little more estrogen i have not been having the same symptoms as last week..( when i was using less) so we will see what happens. i want to thank everyone who has been helping me with this problem. janet

Guest guest
Hi Janet, Thanks for sharing this. "...she also gave me a list of foods that irritate the bladder..." I would be interested to know w h a t foods can irritate the bladder. I think I often have an overactive one, too. (I can't take cranberry tablets either for that reason. I'm doing Kegels often while I'm in the car sitting on a golf ball...). I'm also using 550mg Butterbur capsules, which are also good against parasites and for overall immunity.
