Guest guest
AFTER WAITING FOR MONTHS TO GET AN APPOINTMENT, AND HEARING ALL THE POSITIVE THINGS ABOUT DR TUCHMAN, I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE OUTCOME OF THE VISIT. AS AN SUPPOSED AUTHORITY ON AUTISTIC CHILDREN HE CERTAINLY DID NOT HANDLE MY CHILD WHO WAS NOT TOO CO-OPERATIVE. I WENT TO HIM FOR HELP AND A SPECIFIC DIAGNOSES AND CAME AWAY WITH EXACTLY WHAT I WALKED IN WITH " NOTHING " . HIS NURSE WAS ABLE TO HANDLE MY CHILD, WITH LITTLE DISTRACTIONS, BETTER THEN THE DOCTOR. DR. TUCHMAN MADE NO ATTEMPT TO INTERACT WITH MY CHILD, ONLY ASKING ME SEVERAL QUESTIONS, AND GLANCING AT MY CHILD OCASSIONALY. HE WAS WITH US APPROXIMATELY 20 TO 25 MINUTES. I HATE TO WRITE THIS BUT THE DOCTOR SEEMED BORED, SHOWING NO COMPASSION, AND LITTLE INTEREST IN MY CHILD. MAYBE OTHER PEOPLE CAN TELL ME IF THEY TOOK THEIR CHILD TO THIS DOCTOR AND WHAT THEIR FEELINGS ARE ON WHAT I HAVE SAID HERE. I WENT TO HIM BECAUSE OF THINGS I HEARD AT SOME MEETINGS. EITHER THE STATEMENTS I HEARD WERE EXAGGERATED OR THE DOCTOR WAS HAVING AN EXTREMELY BAD DAY. AT THIS POINT I DO NOT KNOW WHERE TO TURN FOR ADVICE. PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP ME IN THIS SITUATION AND RECOMMEND SOMEONE WHO CAN GIVE ME THE HELP MY CHILD NEEDS. I DEFINITELY ADVISE ANYONE THINKING OF TAKING THEIR CHILD TO DR TUCHMAN FOR AN EVALUTION TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. HOWARD
Guest guest
Please don't take him personally.. we have (or had) been taking our son to Dr. Tuchman for 2 years and he definitely needs a PERSONALITY GENE IMPLANT!! When we initially saw him, my Son was 2 yrs old and Tuchman was LOVING behavior therapy and speech therapy combined. Within one year, he changed his mind and now despises Behavior therapy and only condones speech. He was also very aloof and rushed our session (we probably got 10 minutes with him)This is the point where we decided that he was either burned out on autism or has a split personality. I have heard great things about Dr. Stuart Brown and also a Dr. Bacaro. Good luck!
Guest guest
Dear , Finally, someone who agrees with us. We brought our son to Dr. Tuchman and got the same treatment. His partner Dr. Epstein is slightly better but not by much. Our son is on medication and one time I called Dr. Tuchman about the medicine not working and his reply was, I don't know what we can do. I really feel for you and we have been through a lot of the same issues. The state of Florida is not very accommodating to children with disabilities. How old is your child? Please feel free to e-mail us at any time at MRK1195@.... Sincerely, Robin
Guest guest
What was Dr. T's response when you asked him about a diagnosis? Did he recommend any therapy/meds/course of action? --- Twinklestar1022@... wrote: > > > ATTACHMENT part 2 message/rfc822 > From: Smilingjack713@... > Date: Sun, 7 Apr 2002 23:43:39 EDT > Subject: Fwd: DR. Guest guest
We had the same problem with our son in 1992, at 2 years old. He told us that our son was "very spoiled" PERIOD. now our kid is 11, and we know that he is severe ADHD, and bipolar... Guest guest
, I got pretty much the same treatment and reaction from Dr. Tuchman. You are not alone nor paranoid in your opinion. I was very disappointed in what he allegedly had to offer and did not return after ther initial visit.
Guest guest
You would have had a better response if you asked his nurse for a diagnosis! This is not the first time that this has been expressed. Dr. Epstein is far superior. He is also at the Marino Center. michael
Guest guest
Note: forwarded message attached. Hello , I have been informed of some information that has been written on your listserve regarding Dr. Tuchman. Thank you for your speedy response to this request, Schulefand Coordinator of Therapeutice Services UofM CARD Dan Marino Center Branch I have worked very closely with Dr. Tuchman for several years. He is an outstanding physician and a wonderful person. He works diligently to provide quality care to families of children with autism and is always seeking out new avenues for information regarding the diagnosis and treatment of children with ASD. I am surprised and disturbed by the comments made about Dr. Tuchman and implore you to look further into his contributions to the field. I commend Dr. Tuchman for all of his efforts and applaud him for his unending commitment to children with ASD. Sincerely, Schulefand
