Guest guest
> Madeleen: Cortisol works for cold hands and hypoT symptoms as it allows the T 3 to get into the cells *i think*. On the adrenal board they are adamant about taking your cortisol and thyroid together. When I first began the duo I was uncoordinated with the use of them together. When they got synced it made a huge difference in effectiveness. Now I take the cortisol, that peaks 1/2 hour after ingestion, and do the sublingual armour simultaneously. I also take the cortisol on an empty stomach and sometimes if feeling dire will take it sublingually as well. Many can't tolerate the cortisol on an empty stomach and for them they eat right away. I'm wondering about E and thyroid. As I posted above to anne, I found I needed to lower my E and I think a part of my high E needs were compensatory for deficient thyroid. As Langer points out in Guardian of Health, we can have 4 different types of thyroid deficiency, one of which is normal numbers that don't tell of the failure of the cells to absorb it. They found that the basil body temperature is the best measure all around. This first, then right there with it, symptoms. I've always been midrange T3 and T4 with tons of hypoT symptoms. I was never able to get a doc to treat it. TSH of 2.8. Last check, without cortisol, on 2.5 grains of armour, I was still midrange T3 and T4 with a TSH of .013. HA! It wasn't until I added the cortisol, having taken a saliva that showed dirt low cortisol, that I started to see some improvement. At 4 grains and still with less than ideal temps, cold hands and feet, I'm wondering how high I will need to go to get " optimized " . Not sure how E plays in here with this. Does E in the presence of armour, move out of the way giving priority to the armour? Do we need more armour when we have high E? Sam?? Do you know anything here? Guest guest
While supplementing with E (estradiol), in general, sometimes there 'is' a need to "increase" the Armour. For me, I've found that dosing "by symptoms" was the best way to address that. In other words, whatever amount of Estradiol I was on, while taking desiccated thyroid (Armour, et al), whenever I started getting hypO symptoms back, I would increase Armour by about 1/2 grain or so. I am now on 11 grains of Armour, and I feel absolutely fantastic - also the Iodoral, DHEA, and the BHRT, too. But also remember that I am thyroidless and ovaryless, so my dosing has been pretty straight forward - aimed at total supplementation. Other's needs may not be as mine are/were. I added Iodoral and reduced slowly down to 1 grain. Sometimes I have to add 1/2 grain in PM due to cold hands, but that is not often. Cortisol seems to work for the cold hands just as well, so I am mostly doing that. No hyperthyroid sumptoms. My thyroid readings are just about perfect now at TSH- 1.6 and free T3 and T4 at mid-range. So doesn't look like I am shutting down my thyroid at this point. Lowering the thyroid meds and adding Iodoral did slow down the hair loss. I have not recently done temps, but will do so again just to double check where I am at now. No I have not been taking the thyroid meds and the Cortisol at the same time. Should I? I take my thyroid after breakfast along with Iodoral and take Cortisol a couple of hours later.
