Years ago I had the odd teeny cavity, but generally had excellent gorgeous

teeth. No ovaries and then the thyroid was killed and then I lost all but

ten of my beautiful teeth. No cavities, they just came out by themselves.

Very creepy.

Since I've been on Armour thyroid, adrenal support and BHRT, I've not had

one cavity. I have partial dentures, by the way.

Hi Laurel,

I have never been on progesterone but for a spin about three months last

summer and otherwise I have only ever used estrogen for hrt and have not had

a problem with decay, just demineralized from bone loss and that all

happened when I went off hrt for 8 years.

Prior to my hysterectomy at 24 I had tooth decay during my pregnancies and

now my daughter is experiencing the same, a girl who never had a cavity

growing up! lol.....perhaps due to the high levels of p?

Anyhow, surprisingly I have had absolutely no decay since hyster/bilarteral

oopherectomy and starting the use of estrogen or even when I went off it.

Hmmmmm. this is interesting. I have changed my diet to include tons of raw dairy and more fruit. While I have not noticed tooth decay, my teeth look grayer or browner or something. My mom made a comment on it. It seems the last couple of weeks they are more yellow. My teeth weren't pearly white to begin with but not bad. I just read in a book called "The Ecology Diet" that you have to brush your teeth after eating any kind of dairy as it can cause tooth decay. I have not used any P in about 6 months.

I have...had the first decay since I started eating Weston Price 6years ago. I thought it was because the mercury filling had pulledaway. We found it when we pulled out the mercury from my teeth. Now Iwonder .....Noticed my teeth also have looked fairly bad over the past 2 years. They were looking pretty good after getting on weston price.Lynn

I've been going over pubmed. I haven't put it all together, but it looks like we might have reason to point our fingers at the WP.  I have had years of no decay.  I didn't have decay with my pregnancies.  There you are with decay and now Lynnlalala is off in the oral surgeons this morning. )-:  She is a gal who can't handle a couple of mg of P.  I'm really concerned about her.  LaurelI have...had the first decay since I started eating Weston Price 6years ago. With teeth whitening being so popular these days, I've read that certain foods  cause  yellow or darker teeth. What i remember isthat vegetables and wine are among the list, but don't recall dairy or fruit on "the list", but they could be.  I have had increase tooth decayin the last several years, and I am post menopausal.  Hmmmmm. this is interesting. Interestingly enough what may be happening is an actual deficiency of

magnesium! Now most supplements have a ratio of calcium higher than

magnesium but I found information supporting that the ratio should be higher

in magnesium. I wonder about the seaweed I was eating and upon reflecting

at what it was I was doing last year I was getting a lot of magnesium in my

diet. I now supplement 500 mg. even though I take Bone Restore from LEF and

I also take their Multi Vitamin. Anyone have issues with their teeth may

want to consider looking into extra supplemental magnesium. Also, it

promotes healthy deep sleep, relaxes the muscles etc.

Oddly I was just listening to a lecture (I love listening to lectures when I drive) by Dr. N. who is a doctor treating cancer patients with nutrition, pancreatic enzymes, and detox techniques.  He was discussing the history of the approach and the section I was listening to discussed the sympathetic nervous system.  The early work in this area was done by Dr. Pottenger (the cat study doctor).  Pottenger found that people who were parasympathetic dominant tended to need more calcium and those that were sympathetic dominant tended to need more magnesium.  I will get more references about this as soon as I get the webpage done.   I have all the signs of being parasympathetic dominant (more later) and too much magnesium is hard on me.  When I did a liver cleanse the magnesium made it hard to walk.  My mother says that supplemental magnesium makes her legs shake.  She likes calcium.  But there are others who love what supplemental magnesium does to them.  More and more I sense that we need to be attentive to our own metabolisms.  That old saying, "one man's food is another's poison".   It is true that it relaxes the muscles, but it appears that some of us need the other system to have more support.  Sorry I'm not referencing properly. LaurelInterestingly enough what may be happening is an actual deficiency of magnesium!
