A Decade of Galas Making a Difference! Update

Hello everyone!

I hope everyone is enjoying this last month of summer.

I. The annual BBQ was a great success. Besides enjoying each other's

company and getting to know new attendees, Mark updated everyone on all of the

exciting research progress.

II. The first Gala planning/prep work meeting is this Sunday, 8/26, at

2:00 PM. Please RSVP by Friday, if possible, if you will be attending. Donated

items are coming in, so there is already much to do.

The Gala Planning/Prep Work Meeting Schedule is below. Please RSVP by

Friday of each week if you will be attending. You may e-mail me at

Barbara_Kane@.... If you would like to come help out at a time not

listed

below, please just let me know when you are available. There is much to do,

and never enough time!

7. Friday, 10/12 @ 6:00 PM - Important Meeting & Subs for Gala Volunteers.

If you are volunteering on Gala day, and if at all possible, this is a

very important evening to attend. Volunteer assignments and duties will be

explained, we will wrap up preparations, and we will enjoy each other's

company! Please put this on your calendar.

8. Saturday, 10/13 Tenth Annual " Working Toward a Day Without Pain " Gala,

A Decade of Galas Making a Difference! Times will vary depending on

volunteer assignments.

III. If you are planning to send out Gala invitations, please let me know

how many invitation sets you need as soon as possible. I will resend

attachments (announcements, letters, forms) upon request. 's invitation

letter is now available, so please let me know if you would like me to e-mail

that to you.

IV. Please help secure item donations for the Live and Silent Auctions and

the Silent Raffle. Our live auctioneer will once again be Cash Cunningham!

Suggestions:

* Use your credit card points. I just used mine last evening.

* Ask for donations from businesses you frequent.

* Mail out the previously attached item donation request letter (replace

red with appropriate information).

* Request game or event tickets from friends, family, and business

associates.

* Perhaps you know someone who will donate a timeshare, condo, or other

accommodations for a vacation. Southwest Airlines donated 2 round trip

tickets, so a destination to pair them with would make an exciting Live Auction

offering!

Please complete & return a previously attached Auction Donation

Information form with each item donation.

Due to the amount of time needed to log each donated item into the

database, and prepare each donation for the booklet and display, it is very

important that item donations are received at our home or at Mark's office by

Sept. 21, 2012. Sooner is better! Please contact me as soon as possible if you

need to make alternate arrangements. Completed theme baskets are very much

appreciated!!

V. Please let me know if you need information to reserve a room, or if you

have a problem reserving a room, at the Hyatt Regency Buffalo in the

Column of Hope Room Block. There are a limited number of Sunday night rooms in

the block this year. If you are told that any of the nights in the block

(Fri, Sat, or Sun) are sold out, please contact me as soon as possible.

We are planning for another exciting Gala, marking a decade of Galas,

which will allow for more amazing progress with the research that is funded by
