Guest guest
My next 'consult' would be a hospice evaluation. They have been incredibly helpful in such sitations. Dan
Guest guest
I wish we had more “Palliative Care” options. Sometimes hospice is difficult as you have to certify expected life expectancy of 6 months or less. Guest guest
Just so you know, here are the hospice guidelines for non-metastatic cancer qualifications (I know this is the problem, but many times people actually do qualify). http://www.hom.org/eligibility.asp I wish we had more “Palliative Care” options. Guest guest
Lynette, I am aware that many people do qualify. It’s the people who don’t want to acknowledge that they qualify. Probably the 100+ year old patient that started this thread would not want to hear from his doctor that he can receive hospice services. Guest guest
I understand, just thought I'd share the guidelines. On the flip side, there was the patient I had who actually did qualify for hospice based on her metastatic breast cancer, not being treated, for...5 years before I finally put her on hospice. Then, she was terminally ill for another 2 1/2 years. ;-) Lynette, I am aware that many people do qualify. It’s the people who don’t want to acknowledge that they qualify.
