Hi, all. I just joined this group and wanted to say a quick hello to everyone

and let you all know that I am so glad I found you. I have been suffering with

symptoms for many years and have just recently been diagnosed, so although I am

not new to dealing with the condition, I am still at the beginning of the

learning curve when it comes to finding out all the facts. It is nice to know

there is a place to go to talk to others who know what it is like and have been

down this road before me.

I also want to let everyone know that having been symptomatic for 17 years, I

have dealt with a lot of the ups and downs and I am a good listener and am happy

to hear from anyone who wants to talk or could use a friend who understands how

hard it can be.

Thanks a bunch and nice to meet you all!

Thanks for the welcome :-)

Yes, I have had an initial visit with a neurosurgeon who has a lot of experience

with Chiari.  He is having me go for some more tests and try a few final things

to make sure surgery is necessary since I am rather borderline as far as

tonsillar herniation... about 5 mm.  I go Monday to get a CT-guided occipital

nerve root block.  I have had a couple before but they were done differently and

he says these work better.  He wants to make sure my headaches aren't coming

from that nerve.  I also have to see a urologist about bladder issues because he

says I have several signs of tethered cord as well.  So after all that I will go

back and see where I stand as far as surgery.

here both that still suffer and the ones that hang around to help others, you

will find a wealth of information.
