Guest guest
Topper soap and hot water irritte the skin and dermatologists will tell you not to use these very often. It will make the itching worse. I have found this to be true. It sounds like you are doing the right thing with the temperture etc to help your itching. I can't do that because then my poor husband will freeze. So we try to find a compromise. I wear think nightgowns and throw blankets off. I go through so many body changes in temperatures. One minute I am freezing and the next so hot. I meant to ask you what exactly are you taking in natural remedies for thyroid? Also why not take the meds? I am wondering if these natural things are making you itch more. I had many natural rememdies that did this to me. I can't take most natural herbs etc. Anita
Guest guest
I know soaking for long periods, over 20 minutes, in water and using harsh soaps are very bad.. but the fluff taking off the dead skin and the moisturizer has been helping me a lot... I take a non prescription form of porcine thyroid.. I don't have insurance and can't find a doc in this area that will see me without several hundred dollars up front... so I can't get a prescription... last July when I finally found the stuff that I'm taking now I'd not found a source for prescription grade that would sell without a prescription... They exist now.. in fact, there are several.. but the price for the cheapest one is four times what I'm paying now.. simply not affordable for me... I agree that what I'm taking may not be the best.. but it is far better than what I was on... 25mcg of synthroid taken one day a week... My last prescription was for 200 mcg a day.. and I'm currently on 2 1/2 grains of the porcine.. so you can see that the 25 I was taking the one day a week wasn't doing me a heck of a lot of good.. but that was all I had and I was nearly out of that... I'm doing much better now.. been on this stuff since July, last summer... I've been dealing with the itching in increasing intensity/discomfort since running out of meds 3 1/2 years ago.. since then I'd been getting left over synthroid from friends and relatives and for a while from folks that I was meeting on the internet.. but as their own dosages were finally 'stabilized' they no longer had extra pills and even that feeble source ended. So I know the itching isn't from what I'm taking now... Good that you brought it up, though, just in case.... *smile* Topper () http://groups.yahoo.com/group/The_Thyroid_Support_Group/ http://toppertwo.tripod.com On Thu, 13 Mar 2003 18:24:48 -0500 (EST) AtinaLee@... writes: > Topper soap and hot water irritte the skin and dermatologists will > tell > you not to use these very often.
