Debbie,

I had the same feeling before being decompressed and will feel a small episode

when I'm lifting thing over my recommended weight limit.

It's part of a Chiari, along with swallowing issues and problems with going pee.

These are all issues that come from where the brain and the spinal cord come

together. So one day you wi feel this and another it will be a different issue.

Try to stay calm and...

.... I can't remember if your with a Chiari specialist yet. But listen to them

and if the pain becomes too much you might want to consider different treatment

or surgery.

now with summer break it's even better.

It is a nuerological symptom, in our case it is a symptom of Chiari it is

called NYSTAGUMS, it is very well explained in Wikipedia, just look for it.

You can see a video of an eye twitching.

Nystagmus has many caues, in our case it is a symptom of Chiari, it is

related to a vestibular problem which is affected also by Chiari, it is

related to the eye an ear nerves.

I had it like 7 years ago, but then it disappeared and it last like a month

but then suddenly it disappeared.

Before my first decompression surgery this was one of the symptoms the

otoneurologyst (specialist in ear nerves) was looking to approve the

surgery.

As many doctors have to agreed that the surgery was needed this was one of

the many I saw to get the approval, but at that time I did not have it.

As in our case it is a symptom of Chiari I do not know if it could be

relieve by anything else. In my case it last like a month, then suddenly it

dissapeared, and never had it again.

So I've already searched passed messages and could find what I was looking

for. Maybe I didn't use the right search terms or maybe it wasn't on here

that I remember reading about this before so anyhow....

My daughters symptoms seem to be progressing. She's been pretty lucky so far

as her main issues have been memory loss and fatigue. The headaches and neck

& shoulder pain we have been managing pretty well with traction type

adjustments. Doing this every 3-4 weeks has really cut their severity and

frequency down and now with summer break it's even better.

This last week she had a day with tingly in one of her hands which is new.

But what concerns me more is what happened with her eye. It was a very short

episode so by the time she told me what was happening it had stopped and I

didn't actually see it. But she's 15 so she is able to describe it. She said

her eye was twitching.

Not the outer part of the eye like the eyelid - that happens to me a lot.

But she said her actual eyeball was twitching. And then she showed me with

her finger was the movement was like - moving back and forth rapidly. Just

one eye.

I know I've read discussions about this before but don't remember if it was

hear or not.

I'm hitting a lot of dead ends with doctors around here for her but she does

have an annual check up coming up with her pediatrician. Even though her

pediatrician isn't familiar with all of our issues she is very kind and not

only listens to all of our concerns but will research things to try to help

us. But as we all know, we don't always fit the " textbook " . I would love for

here to see my NL but she can't till she's 16.

So if anyone has any info on this I would appreciate the help. I can then at

least present it to the pediatrician to help her help us.

It sounds like your daughter is starting to suffer with nystagmus

.... involuntary movements of the eye. Make sure she mentions this to her Doctor

when she sees him/her. I suffered with this before my decompression, it has got

a lot better since being decompressed.
