Annette, Please read the book "Up The Creek With A Paddle" by Bradley. It's a story of her and her husband who has PPMS and LDN. My advice is to give it more than a month. I'd give it six or months before making a final decision. LDN only works in 75% of the people who use it. Good Luck Edannette464@... wrote: Vicki, I live in Southern California. 30 miles east of L.A.. I have only been on LDN for 5 days, but since I have a progressive form of MS, I should know in the first month or so if it's going to work for me. I sure hope it does. If it does, I know I would want to get involved in something like that. If not, I'll be busy trying to find something to help me

stabilize. So we should keep in touch. I have not prob. traveling up north. Love it up there. Annette

Ed, Thanks!! I told my husband yesterday that I wanted to order that book. I am anxious to get it. Thanks! 75% sounds like pretty good odds. Annette

To Annette:

I have been on LDN for 7 months and it has

definitely helped me. I recently took a plane trip that would have

exhausted me prior to the LDN. I was able to navigate while on my trip

WITHOUT the use of a Companion Chair with the exception of the time spent in

the airports.

If you asked me 4 months ago if LDN was

helping me, I probably would have said: “Probably a little.”

With me it has been a very subtle change but after 7 months there is no

question in my mind.

As Ed has suggested, give the LDN more

time.

Hi Bob;

I'm a 64 year old male, doctors tell me I'm in excellant health if I didn't have MS, I was always a very active person prior to MS. My question is, I started LDN Aug 25, 2005, so I have a full 6 months on LDN, I still use my scooter but have made considerable improvement, I do now walk with a walker, is this about how you progressed? at least my bladder control is now normal.

Bob,

Thanks so much for your email!! It's nice to hear other people's stories. Those airports are killers. I am so happy to hear of your success.

I have only been on LDN since last Friday, so 7 days, and before I started LDN, I was on 2 - 10mg pills a day of baclofen and it was getting to the point where it wouldn't even touch the stiffness, etc. Now after just 7 days, I've been taking 1 for the first 5 days and the last two days I haven't had to take the afternoon one either. It's so hard to believe I think that, well, maybe I am just having good days, but it's got to be the LDN!!

The subtle changes are hard to notice, you are right, but they are there.

Sincerely, Annette

Annette,

I actually went to see 2 high school

friends, who were on vacation in the Bahamas, and stayed at the Hotel

Riu. I also went to the casino at the Atlantis Hotel which was next door

to the Riu. I was really getting around WITHOUT the wheel chair: I did

not use it until I got back to the airport. I don’t know if you

have ever been to the Riu (I understand that it was the Sheraton in the past)

but there is a very steep ramp going down to the beach and I was able to

navigate the ramp up and down AND walk in the sand to get to the chaise lounge

on the beach (under an umbrella of course) WITH MY SHOES ON. That would

not have happened a year ago.

They had not seen me in 3 years and could

not get over my improvement so stay with it and I am confident you will see

improvement over time. Do not become impatient.

Hi Annette,

Also try soap putting soap in your bed. If that does not work then try putting it directly on your skin somehow while you sleep. My husband moves too much when he sleeps, so I put a sliver of soap on his shoulder that was bothering him and adhered it with an ace bandage and the pain was gone the next morning. Wow. Anyways it is also supposed to work very well for stiffness and spasms too.

Bob, WOW!! You HAVE come such a long way. I bet that's been one of your best vacations in a while. I just got my vacation time verified at work, and after your email, I can't wait to plan mine. Where? Who knows, but I won't be depressed about my MS because I think it's helping.

Every day when my family asks me if it's helping, and it's only been 10 days, now I tell them about your story of it being subtle. We have to be patient!! You are right!!

Sincerely, Annette
