Guest guest
The only thing I can tell you is that: 1. Before my TCS surgery I had worst hormone levels than after. 2. Before my 2nd Chiari decompression surgery that I had to do because I had a cyst, I had all my hormones crazy I did not have my period either and it looked like if I had the menopause. 3. Afeter the 2nd Chiari decompresion surgery I have some improvement in hormones, not yet checkd, but my period is comming back as usual. So I really think ICP can make your pituitary gland goes crazy. When I can lower it down I start losing weight too, when I have it up it does no matter why I eat I am fat anyway. If anyone has any experience with similar issues, please let me know....I've managed to stump yet another doctor...surprise, surprise! He was utterly confused with my test results because he was just convinced it was a " simple " issue. I wasn't surprised at all that it wasn't! Been having a lot of weight gain and hormonal issues in the past two years. Cycles go up to 10 months apart. The other day something made me think about it...the year after decompression I was on a high dose of Diamox to reduce the pressure in my head. During that time, my hormones evened out a bit and I lost a lot of weight. I got down skinnier than I'd been since I was 12! It's been since I got off the Diamox, almost 2 years ago, that things have worsened and I've gained 50-55 lbs. I also cannot lose weight at all. When I'm very careful with diet, I can maintain my weight but that's all. So, I went in for blood tests. They ran a lot! Everything has come back normal except: Testosterone is high Cholesterol is high (makes no sense with my diet) Vitamin D is low (even with taking a supplement and getting an hour of sun 6x week) Had a couple tests after that because it was assumed to be PCOS. But the tests have come back perfectly normal. So, today they ran 4 more blood tests for pituitary hormone levels. I'm also wondering if there's a way to see what my ICP is without having a spinal tap? Any help...? Cortney
