Guest guest
Hello All, I have trying to find the product Mucinex for both me and mom and can't seem to find it here in TO. Perhaps it is only available in the US? I have also tried to download the info on the med but for whatever reason my puter won't let me download the PDF. Could someone please tell me what the ingredients are in Mucinex and their strenghts? Thanks so much, Courage

Guest guest
Hi Courage: Jim is on Mucinex now. Jim is taking the Children's Syrup and it is grape flavored, but comes in Cherry too. He likes it. The adult Mucinex is a pill form and the instructions say that it can not be crushed, it loses it's effect. Jim can not swallow a whole pill. It is 60mg I think. Adult Mucinex does not come in a syrup. The Children's Mucinex Syrup is Guaifenesin like the Robitussin that LBD can have. The doctor perscribed the adult Mucinex for Jim, which I think was 60mg, Since the pill can not be crushed, they figured out the amount of syrup in the Children's Mucinex. The nurses figured the math of what Jim can have and it is 2 tsp. every 4 hours like it says for the 12 year old. Guest guest
Hi Courage I believe Mucinex is a brand name and is acually Guaifenesin, an expectorant. It can be purchased over the counter. By me it is actually kept behind the counter in the pharmacy dept. and you have to ask for it. I have purchased it there with the brand name Fenesin IR in 400 mg. pills. It can be taken up to 6 doses in 24 hours. It works great for congestion without the other ingredients contained in cough syrup.
Guest guest
Thanks all for the info on Mucinex. So, I guess its just like the robotussin so I don't feel so bad that I can't get it here. Thanks again. Guest guest
Hi courage I live in California. I don't know how it works in Canada but here some non prescription meds are kept behind the pharacists counter and you have to ask for them. Guaifenesin has been around forever and you should be able to purchase it over the counter, meaning without a prescription. But maybe in Canada you need a prescription for it. Ask the pharmacist. Good luck
