Guest guest
Sorry I have not seen this before, this is one interesting document about ICP, green tea, coffee and chocolate: www.izecksohn.com/leonardo/summaryfhs.pdf But there is a lot of information about green tea and ICP, some times in favor, some times against. I can drink regular green tea. Please cite your sources when making remarks about soy like they are facts. If it is your opinion please state so. We love to follow up and read citations by reliable sources. For example, what is the chemical reaction in the digestive system that makes soy prevent the absorbtion of nutrients? I have good working knowledge of the biology of digestion so I can understand most things. Please inform us Lynn CM, EDS, and more crap I don't want to think about tonight
Guest guest
Notice that the best thing they can say is " risk factor " which means may or may not cause or aggravate. It's also known (though my neuro is the one who had the documentation in hand) that several of the things on the list can help with at least migraine (then again, that's the rub with at least migraines, many of the things that can help it can also cause it and you never know which it'll do for you till you try it). For me, I have a careful balance with caffeine. Teas don't bother me. Sources of higher caffeine have to be carefully limited (rarely more than 1/2-1 cup of coffee per day) and chocolate is a rare treat (I've just always preferred stuff like licorice and gummy worms - when I can find ones without problematic colorings). Too much coffee and I'm likely to have a migraine less than my 1/2-1 cup and I for sure WILL have one. But if I slept with a " high pillow " , as they recommend, I'd have a headache daily. I've never been able to use much of a pillow. This is what happens when doctors try to make a one size fits all answer to anything... Guest guest
Dee & all,hi.. Believe me I understand about the " one size fits all " advice from doctors. I also believe this goes for advice from essentially anyone... One really has to learn their own body and what helps and what doesn't. These suggestions can be taken as such and perhaps tried...If they don't work for you, they are not good for you...period. <g> That being said, I wanted to make one suggestion regarding the " high pillow " suggestion from your doctor. I am assuming that he is trying to help gravity work to move the ole' CSF along. This is a good thing. But by suggestion a big pillow he is potentially putting your neck in a really bad position for you...possibly even causing more blockage. Another suggestion ( for somewhat the same thing) made by Dr. Milhorat years ago, is to raise the head of your bed about 6 " . This can be accomplished in a variety of ways...I put wood blocks under the top legs of the bed. For me, it made a world of difference. This method raises the head and helps csf flow, but it also allows you to use the flatter pillow which is better for you/your neck.... It also keeps the body in alignment...the spinal column straight..all " good things " for anyone. Just an idea...You might want to give it a try.. Take care, Sally R...
