Guest guest
Meg the circumstances sound similar to my Dad's. His GP even told us that he had most likely picked it up in hospital as " you can catch anything in those places " - her words not mine so it isn't always caused by antibiotics and can be passed on as I already said. Dad was at home post-hospital stay when it was diagnosed but we found out afterwards that 2 other patients on the ward at the same time as Dad had also caught it and it contributed to their deaths also. Deb c diff Hi all ..I have been reading all the posts o C Diff...My husband spent the summer in and out of hospitals because of his compromised autonomic system which caused dangerous falls, orthostatic BP,2 blood clots, dehydration etc..the BC came after they took him off coumadin because of the falls..one requiring 6 stitches in the head..He was never on any antibiotics...at this time I am guessing that he got this HORRIBLE C.Diff from the hospital or rehab center... ...he is 68 ...I asked the doctor if autonomic failure was causing the diarrhea and he said no...constipation is involved..and of course his compromised immune system...Meg
Guest guest
This is true. C-Diff can be caught just like E-Coli. I don't yet know for sure, but I have been told by a knowledgeable person that it is not a super bug. It can be like an epidemic because one nurse that is careless can transmit it to all the patient in her care. And they are in such a hurry sometimes that hygiene is often not as good as it should be. I have also heard that the Gel cleaners do not kill it. Other say to use it. So there is still a lot out on this.
