Guest guest
Oh my dear Janet, Light some smelly candles or listen to some Xmas music or something you really like to do. If I was within driving distance I'd come stay with you and help you beat up the system!!! I hope you are sleeping well and do go get a favorite meal or do something a little special for you. My father was in a large hospital and I raided the gift shop there everyday for little things that I took out and used this year with my stepmother. Everything was on sale and I don't mind looking at those things. I have a little cardinal plate above the computer here I got thee....for some reason the little gifts I bought during that frustrating time comfort me. I took my stepmom a snowman hanging thing that I had gotten...I guess I was trying to find way to remember good little things instead of the crazy nothing moments. Remember at the heart of this...that you are right...it is harder on YOU than him. My dad noticed a time or two that I'd be agitated or teary....and I'd try so hard to be better because they really don't realize the passage of time...they just want to feel better and seeing us upset makes it worse for them. In the end it is better for them to know we are just THERE with them. That is what they want more than anything. But do NOT wear yourself out. Dear janet, do you have the dying phases? A wise woman we know from Florida sent them to me and I wished I had them before he passed. Email me and I will send them to you. Love and many hugs...Sara in NC
