Guest guest
Hi, I got this response from Dr. Bolognese at The Chiari Institute and he gave permission for it to be copied here for all the members. Hope it helps define things. ____________________________________________ Saying that EDS can cause CMI is inaccurate. They can occur together. They can compound each other's clinical effects (I.E. 1+1=3). They are genetically " cousins " , since embriologically they both come from the mesenchimal line of cells. BUT EDS cannot cause CMI, and CMI cannot cause EDS. ON THE OTHER HAND, EDS can cause sagging of any tissue through anatomical holes by gravity. Therefore EDS by itself can cause MINIMAL inferior displacement of the cerebellar tonsils. How do we know these things ? 1. At TCI, we were the first ones to observe and report that CMI and EDS often occur together. 2. We have seen and treated more CMI/EDS patients than anybody else. Guest guest
Thank you! Something my lawyers are going to be talking about while i go through my divorce and my son's special case! He's a TCI/ Dr. B patient but only on a monitoring bases at the moment! First generation of " Known Chiari Patients " . Dr. B just showed my husband and I a enlarged picture of our son's chairi and signs of EDS on the C-1 ligermant. But with our son only being 5 and having no quality of life signs to look for a " fix " we just sit back and watch! No football or reaceling at all in my son's future but swimming and maybe t-ball. Like i said before this might be the first generation of all knowing but it can not stop our children from being children and having a normal life! Goodness, I personally rased dirt bikes, cheerleading, basketball, vollyball and track and feild. I took a garage truck to bring me down to showing real signs! I'm happy my family can help with the medical brainacts to hopefully find a cure one day! Until then we have eachother as support and our children as our future!
