Subject: Question about medicine

Let's see I have been on prednisone for 3 days now I have not spiked a fever

more than once and it didn't go higher than 100 degrees. However, I have cut my

activity level down so dramatically I slightly fear if I start to do any type of

activity the spiking will start again.

Does anyone have any experience with once the spiking fevers get in control if

they can come back simply from doing physical exertion. I have cut down my

college school load. Now I am only taking on-line classes and I also quit

tutoring for right now, but I was just wondering if this pred is something that

just suppresses the symptoms or if it gets rid of them.

Hi. I had multiple fevers a day reaching over 104 degrees when I first got sick,

but now that things are more chronic my fevers are still daily but lower mostly

in the 99's. I am currently not on any medication but am seeing my rheum Monday

and hopefully he will start me on something. Anyways, this year for the first

time (been sick 3 years) I notice that when I'm flaring any little physical

activity gives me an instant fever. It was especially bad in the summer when it

was really hot and humid out. That was hellish. Like constant fevers all day.

Yuck! I couldn't do anything without sweating like a pig. I'd be afebrile then

do dishes (hot water?) and bango flushing feeling all over sweating check my

temp and there it is. Eat warm food, clean the littler box, vacuum, take a

shower...all these things will instantly give me a fever. I thought I finally

had the perfect excuse to make my boyfriend do all the housework! haha Anyway I

think my thermostat is just shot. lol Even now that its cooler out I still get a

fever every time I take a shower and some times doing any little exertion but it

was definitely worse in the summer. I experimented by taking my boyfriends and

dad's temps before and after showers just in case it was normal and I'm not

turning into a complete hypochondriac. But no it's just me. I just have to do

little things at a time, rest then do more, etc. I don't take prednisone but I

would say that everyone is different and has a different experience with

different meds. My sister is also sick with the same illness as me and started

methotrexate which worked pretty well but not quite enough so now she's starting

Plaquenil in addition. It's common to have to take a combo of meds but everyone

is different. Hang in there! Sometimes it takes a little experimenting to find

the right combo of meds you'll need to get you feeling better which takes time.

It's annoying though I know!
