HI Everyone,

Okay, i'm a worry wart but my daughter is 37 weeks and just started having

higher blood pressure, swollen ankles, hyper reflexes (this really worries me

because she just told me they always been this way), and she has lost (close

your ears boys!) her mucuous plug.

So, you say why are you worried? Because I had pre-eclampsia with her, and I

never knew she had hyperreflexia. i had my first significant symptom of Chiari

when I had my 2nd daughter and a C-section and epidural before my general due to

the long 23 hour labor prior to the C- section.

She sees her nurse again on Wednesday (doc is on vacation). I'm going to be

there.

Her doc is aware of my health issues and knew of Chiari.. . . WOW!!

How do I tactfully ask the baby doc to check for signs of Tethered Cord?

I'm trying to stop worrying:)

ok! Hi Everyone! It's Bea in NJ/NYC area!

Knowing I had ACM1 and EDS, along with all the extras that come with

the goody bag for our condition, I did so much homework before getting

pregnant.

I delivered both my children via c-section with general anaesthesia.

I had doctor Bernasko at North Shore (I was so afraid to be far

from TCI) High Risk OBGYN!

I was told by Dr.B @ TCI I could deliver natural if I did not have to

push for long (this to be said for my individual case). Well, I took

the high road with no surprises!

Planned C-section, however my son came @ 34.6 weeks and my daughter

36.5. and they are both bigger than day and doing great!

First time moms and grandmothers enjoy the love and let the medical

world do their job. Just give them the facts and they will take care

of the rest!

Best of Luck! Dr. Bernasko is now at B.I. in NYC now and knows

ACM inside and out! Take a deep breath, and even if anything does

happen, you have 24 hours to get in the right hands(chiari doctors)!

Check for signs of tethered cord in whom, baby or mama? If baby, I'm not sure

why you would think that's necessary. In mama, that's kinda her decision (well

in either case, actually). Many cases of tethered cord aren't obvious, and I've

never heard of a newborn being diagnosed. As for your daughter, 37 weeks is

" term " . If her blood pressure remains high, they'll induce, and it will go away.

As mothers we worry about our children, whether they are adults or young. But

when they are adults, we can only make gentle suggestions. Otherwise the

worrying drives a wedge. I'm sure everything will be fine. Try to enjoy these

last few weeks of your daughter's pregnancy and your new grandbaby.
