Guest guest
I have a great Weider home gym that I bought at Wal-mart three years ago for around $200. It's still in fantastic shape and I use it5 days a week. It is sturdy and dependable. Free weights are inexpensive and don't wear out easily. Get a weight bench at Wal-mart or in the classifieds and you won't be spending a fortune. I've had mine for ages and they are still great even with frequent use. I have a Sears treadmill that I bought at a garage sale for $60. It sells for around $800 new. It is also a sturdy, much-used piece of equipment that has lasted very well. Exercise bikes are a different story. I burn out the bearings on them from riding them so much. They only last a year or two at my house. I haven't had the money to try buying an expensive one to see if it would last longer, I just stick with ones under $100 or from yard sales (that spent their prior lives as clothes racks). Look in the classifieds section of the paper. So many people buy nice equipment and then never use it. You can get some wonderful deals. I have different sized dumbells (from 3 to 20 pounds), 2 body bars (12 and 15 lbs), 2 barbells with different weight plates, a step (which dubs as a weight bench), a swiss ball, a rebounder, push up bars, yoga props... and my workout DVDs and videos!!! Surprisingly, what I use the least is the rebounder. The 2 barbells and body bars are useful when I'm doing endurance based strength workouts as I can switch easily from a low weight to a high weight. I wish I could get a treadmill, but because of space constraints, it's out of the question for now. I'd also like a real weight bench as well as a squat rack eventually... when I get a bigger house I want to set up my own home gym.
