Guest guest
Hello, I'm new to this group and i've been 'lurking' for a while. Thought it was about time I introduce myself. I am Fiona and i'm 28 yrs old. I was diagnosed with Still's in April of this year but the onset was August of last year. I consider myself to be quite lucky with the speed of dignosis. I was very ill for a few weeks last year and ended up in hospital in a sorry state. Very quickly they realised it might be stil'ls and so started me on prednisolone, 60mg. I was given a working diagnosis of Still's but after repeatedly flaring up whenever i reduced below 20mg I was finally diagnosed. I tried azathioprine but that made me ill so I tried 6-mercaptopurine. This is a less common medication but because I hope to have another child at some point it was considered to be safer. Sadly I couldn't tolerate it so i'm on 20mg methotrexate weekly now. Recently i've been able to reduce the steroids and fingers crossed that will continue. It has been lovely to find this group and see the support that is offered to everybody but I must say, i've been a bit overwhelmed by all the terrible experiences people have had. I think i've just been quite naive about this disease because for me at the moment it is under control. Fiona, Bristol UK
