The 12 Most Valuable Questions To Ask About The Company You Buy NutritionalProducts From! ThisSelf Magazine published in their November 1998 issue their rating of the 100largest herb manufactures.Yes, Nature's Sunshine made their good guy list. What is interesting withSelf Magazines' innocent criteria are the brands that are missing - likeGNC, Wal-mart and other chain store brands, Shaklee and others.Yes, there are cheaper herbs - but why are they cheaper? Here is one exampleto illustrate. Alfalfa is considered the king of herbs. It contains manyvitamins, minerals and amino acids, but - the human body can only digest thetop 3-4 inches. Those "less expensive" brands use the whole Alfalfa plant. In the end they cost more - because it takes more - to get the same results.Have you ever walked into a popular health food and vitamin store and foundyourself completely overwhelmed by the endless rows of supplement bottles? The various brands, prices, and those darn labels can leave you confused. So how do you know what you're buying and if its at a fair price? I've puttogether a list of what I believe to be the 12 most valuable questions toask the company you buy nutritional products from. If they can't answerthese questions to your satisfaction...don't waste your money!1) Do You Require Quality Control of Your Products? & How Often? This simplymeans that the company regulates their products and the manufacturers thatsupply ingredients for those products to make sure they have in them whatthey say they have. & only regulates their manufacturers 4times per year. Small companies are not required to regulate at all! 2) Doyou have your own laboratory that you control? Many companies purchase theirproducts from standard labs where they have no control over the processes oractual monitoring of the incoming ingredients. You would be surprised toknow how many companies¹ products all come from the same lab with the onlydifference being the label and price.3) Are the Products Bioavailable? Bioavailable means that the product willbreak down in your system and be released and dissolved so you can get thenutrients from it. Unbelievably, many products are not Bioavailable. Infact, one way to test the bioavailability is to dissolve your product in awarm glass of water. It should dissolve significantly in 45 minutes.4) Do You Use Natural Binders? Big manufacturers found that Americans do notlike to take pills that smell, so they would indigestible shellacs and coatthem so they would no longer smell. Many of these shellacs are notbiodegradable and don't absorb into our system so we push them rightthrough.5) Are your vitamin and mineral products plant derived? Many companies usesynthetic vitamins made in a laboratory and are not the same as what is madein nature. These are slightly mutated. The problem is synthetics are highlyallergenic and they won't bring the same results as the authentic, naturalproduct. In fact they are toxic to our bodies and our bodies are unable toabsorb these inorganic substances. The human body cannot digest non-organicminerals and it poorly processes synthetic vitamins. These synthetic andnon-organic products are cheaper but...you get little or no benefit.6) Do Your Products Contain Large Amounts of the RDA? 100% of RDA ofvitamins and minerals is not sufficient. The RDA was designed for minimalhealth, not optimal health. It takes 5-7 times the amount of nutrition toget well as to stay well.7) Do Your Prices Reflect the Quality? Unfortunately, price has nothing todo with the quality of the product. You must look at quality control (doesit have what it says it has in it) and how that product is processed. Someof the best most absorbable ingredients are actually inexpensive.8) Do You Have a Guarantee or Refund? Any ethical company ought to offer arefund or guarantee on their products.9) Do You Have Quality Information On Your Products? Many companies spendlots of money advertising and marketing their products, but when you calltheir phone number, they have nobody available to answer your questions.10) Do You Maintain the Integrity of Your Products? Many companies will usethe cheapest way to create their products, which is to put all theingredients together, boil it up, stir it and put it into a pill. But youknow every time you cook your food, it decreases the nutritional value. Manydo this and don¹t evaluate nutritional value afterwards; they only evaluateit before the cooking process.11) Do they test the bulk herbs they use for radiation and other pesticides? When I mention this people ask "why?" Well, have you ever heard of theChernobyl nuclear power plant disaster? Many bulk herbs come from EasternEurope. Right after this disaster producers got in the fields and harvestedall they could. These herbs were radioactive. These same producers are stilltrying to get their harvest into the market. Many companies don¹t test forcommon pesticides to ensure the levels aren¹t dangerous.12) Do they offer you someone to assist you with designing and updating aprogram specifically for you? With all the supplements, herbs and herbalcombinations it can become very confusing. However, there is a reason forthese broad selections. One size does not fit all. We all have differentneeds and weaknesses. Only a specialist that is there just for you caninsure you get what you need. It's like having your own personal trainer. With Nature's Sunshine Products you are always assured the answers to theabove questions is an emphatic "YES".Copyright 1999 by M.
