Guest guest
Maddy's surgery went very well. Dr. Sun said he got it all. He said it was very very snug. He said there was alot of scar tissue which was to be expected which we discussed alot. He didnt sound as confident before the surgery as he did after. He also said he removed the cisternal catheter (2nd catheter for her shunt). He said that it didnt need to be there. He said that it was leaking csf between catheter and the muscle and that it made a fluid pocket. He said that wouldnt have caused the pain. He also said the scar tissue formed on catheter and started tethering itself to her spinal cord. That makes mad because former nsg placed catheter but also she had needed it. She was placed in icu where she still remains. She woke up yesterday morning screaming that the front of her head hurts, she continues to cry about this. She was put on a pca of morphine as well as toridol. Dr. Sun came by yesterday and stopped the toridol to see if that was causing headache.Post op mri looks great all around. He said her shunt feels ok and vents look fine.He said he will be gone today and all weekend, his partner will be here though. He said she isnt ready to go home by Sunday or Monday anyways so he will see us next week. She is refusing to eat or drink. My intuition is tell me its the shunt. When it is her shunt the headache presents itself at the forehead. Nsg's PA came in earlier and i told him how she has been. Morphine usually makes her sorta hyper and is more awake and eats and drinks, but she is really sleepy today and still complains about her headache even with meds. The good news is very little complaints about surgerical site i will keep you all posted.
