Estradiol in Olive Oil from WIP

Hi,

For those of you who are using estradiol in olive oil I would greatly

appreciate any help that you can give me with figuring out how to make

the change from biest to estradiol in olive oil. My new biest is not

working out well for me; my main complaint is that it wears off too

soon (at night when I am trying to sleep even with my increased dose).

I am going to contact my doctor for a RX for estradiol in olive oil

from Woman's International Pharmacy. I am not sure how I should ask

for it to be formulated. Should one drop equal one dose or should

several drops equal one dose? What size bottle of olive oil should I

ask for? I am switching from biest in a cream base (E2 0.2, E3 0.8

mg/gram). I am using ½ gram/dose. Does anyone have any idea how

plain estradiol compares to biest regarding dosing? Should I expect

to use a similar amount of estradiol as biest or do you think my dose

would go down?

Thanks for any help,

Kathy

Dear Kathy,My estradiol olive oil from WIP comes in 1mg/drop.I have no idea how this is going to compare with biest, having never used it. I do understand that biest is fairly weak as far as estradiol is concerned. You will need to dose that will work for you.I use 3mg/3x day (AM, noon, PM) so that is a total of 9mg/day. I haven't had an E2 reading (serum) for quite a while and am going to have one fairly soon. The main thing is to titrate according to your needs and at some point you will have a pretty good idea what works for you. Also 9mg/olive oil probably does not equal 9mg transdermal E2. It's probably less. The only way to know what it does to you is to be tested regularly, if you want to know where you are at. Most endocrinologists want meno women to be somewhere in th 60s and 70s (E2) which is too low for me. It does not take care of all my meno symptoms. I like to be closer to

double that.Madeleenacaciamesquite wrote: Hi, For those of you who are using estradiol in olive oil I would greatly appreciate any help that you can give me with figuring out how to make the change from biest to estradiol in olive oil. Thank you Madeleen and Lynn,

I called WIP as suggested and their standard estradiol in olive oil is

1mg/drop, 0.125mg/drop, or 0.1mg/drop each for $20/30ml. The tech

that I spoke with did not know how estradiol in olive oil compares to

biest but that is OK because I will find out soon enough when I try

it. I am going to ask my doctor for a RX for 1mg/drop and dilute it

to save money. My appointment is a week from today so by then I will

be able to tell him how my reduced progesterone dose is working out as

well.

The tech did tell me that they like to only provide a one month supply

for the first RX and they will probably only give me 15mls to start

with.

I do not think I could handle my estrogen being between 60-70! I

would be depressed with vaginal dryness and migraines.

Thanks again for the information.
