Guest guest
hi Kim, Your story sounds so familiar. I am a little older than you, but I have a 10 year old daughter. They are what keeps us going, aren't they? I also have an 18 year old daughter. I am very interested in anything your doc tells you about the iron problem. I also am going through that and my doc just tells me to take iron. I want to know WHY instead of just treating the symptoms. I have an aunt that has the same type of problem with potassium. Are your older daughters supportive? I hope you feel very at home here. I haven't been here long, but I really feel the love and support. When the pain and weekeness didn't get better he did more blood work and said my iron was still low. Sow he upped my iron supplement. Still no success. I got more tired and the pain became unbearable most days. Finally he sent me to a rheumatoidologist who tested me for everything and although my ANA(lupus) test came back positive he believes it is FM. I am now on medication and still awaiting more test results to come back. I will be starting a water excercise class in February as this is the first one available and have regular appointments set up with Doctor and phsyc. I find the most frustrating thing to be that for so many years I raised my children, worked, kept a nice house and even did lots of volunteering. Guest guest
I have only been with the group for a few days now but already I can see the love and support that you guys have for each other. I hope I to can become apart of that. As for the iron problem I see my doctor again Wednesday and will ask for more info. i also get my test results back. My olderr children are very helpful and supportive when they are on. They are all teenagers and I know that sometimes they have to do more then most kids there age but as I keep telling them as long as we work as a family we will be a family. This was difficult for them to understand when they were younger becasuse It is a blended family, but I think that now that they are older they have finally learned that although blood is thicker then water, LOVE is thicker then blood. I have Fibro, Chronic Fatigue, Sleep Apnea and a whole crapful of Arthritis. I have had 6 surgeries now in 3 yrs. 3 of which where due to a car wreck. I'm re couping from one now on my right hand. I live in Western New York. Not enough snow right now. I'm hoping to make new friends here in my fight to get better. I'm on this big thing right now of taking 800 IU of Vitamin D. I find people in the North are in Chronic deficiency of this. For myself it helps a great deal with the pain in my knees and has cured my seasonal depression Thank God. I fight these diseases with the help of self knowledge and God. Thank You JJ

JJ Hello Hello everyone, I am way behind. I think it's great to see everyonechatting about stuff other than what ails us, it certainly helps take themind off of things. Sometimes I read the posts and get discouraged thinking"Will I get that? Will I feel like that? Do I really have THAT?" I meannot to sound like I don't want to read the informative posts, I need to.But it is very nice to go off topic, I enjoy it that way.I did have to go to digest though, LOL, and as of today, Tuesday, I ameleven digests behind, but I thought I'd pop in and let people know I exist, and not a lurker/peeping tom.I've been hurtin for the past few weeks. I think my headaches are fromsinuses and allergies, but my neck, shoulders, and down both arms has beenhurting. The insomnia seems worse every night, I have no idea why that is.I seem to sleep deepest in the morning hours.Christmas shopping is almost done, I spent three hours at amazon.com today,so now my neck is MORE stiff than it was before! LOL But Amazon.com isnothing but a headache on its own!I think my husband and I will skip exchanging gifts again this year. It'sjust too hard on our credit cards! We bought for the family but that isall. I think we already spend enough on ourselves through out the year, like the trip in Sept, and the furniture we bought a year ago that isn'teven paid for.So far no Christmas blues. I had the birthday blues on the first, but I'mglad it's over for another year. Last year I got the Christmas blues butthis year it's mostly fibro blues.Does anyone have recommendations for insomnia? Have you ever tossed andturned so much at night that you just feel like crying? My bed is just souncomfortable at times. I'd love one of those tempur pedic beds but theyare pure evil to price those suckers so high and they should know thatanyone who NEEDS those beds is probably flat broke from other expenses.Ah well, such is life.Anyway there's my ramble, update, and pop in. Guest guest
> The insomnia seems worse every night, I have no idea why that is. > I seem to sleep deepest in the morning hours. Same here...tho I've only slept 8 hours in the last 3 days. Stress plays a major part of my insomnia. Thr past 2 weeks I've been setting myself up for a fibro attack but not much I could do about that....other than pay the consequences...which I am. Had to travel 200 miles to see my Dad after he fell and broke the head of his femur. Thats a 4 hour drive plus trips back and forth from my brothers to the hospital everyday for 4 days. He's 83 and up til now independant, which we hope he will be again. He's doing fantastic. !! Then the 200 mile trip home. > Christmas shopping is almost done,..... I spent three hours at amazon.com today, Yup , me too but it was 5 hours and store to store shopping.... twice !! > Does anyone have recommendations for insomnia? Have you ever tossed and > turned so much at night that you just feel like crying? Not so much the toss and turn but just being flat out wide awake. tho my hubby will say my legs 'run' right now I'm 10 hours at least to sleep ar I'm worthless..which I haven't had . Woke Monday to so much pain I almost couldn't get out of bed.! Heels, ankles, wrists, hips, and knees. I've had a lot of times I've need help to get out of bed but never anything like this....Called my Dr. and he upped my oxycontin from 40 mg. 3 times a day to 80 mg. twice a day. That's helped alot for everything but the sleep problem which I hope settles down soon or I'm on the road to a migraine.....I have a Dr.'s appt. Friday pray it eases up and I sleep before then. right now I'm wide awake and it's almost midnight. sigh. The only thing that helps me is reading...... will wake to find my book closed and glasses on the bedside stand. Nothing $$$$$ wouldn't make better. working with a credit counsoling program to get my debts down to a full payoff in three years at a $1,000 payments a month. Paying 1,750 now......They should never give a stupid person --stupid credit cards... My hubby can retire in 3 years so want to have them paid off by then. Meds cost us [after deductible] $215 monthly. Anyway, Hope you find something that helps you get some sleep. A friend in Iowa, k

It is wonderful to know there are others out here/there that are experiencing the same sort of problems and all work together making suggestions that sometimes really are THE answer. Guest guest
No I have never been tested for sleep apnea, but isn't that where you often stop breathing and then suddenly wake up and gasp for breath? Also snore? I've been sharing a bed with my husband for seven plus years and he's never once heard me snore or wake up gasping for breath. I am just a light sleeper, I am uncomfortable in the bed, I toss and turn, and sleep with one ear open if you will. I took a tylenol PM the other night, half a dose, and snoozed so deep and so well after 1am until 11am, it was so nice! Guest guest
I've always had the insomnia but, I always just thought I was a night owl. I am up past midnight every night for as long as I can remember. I often stress and cannot turn my mind off, so I started watching TV and setting the timer. I'll watch until my eyes get tired, but sometimes that is 2 or 3am! My DH calls the remote control " The Woobie " because I cannot go to bed without it! LOL If I turn the TV off before I'm exhausted, then I'll lie there wide awake. Lately I cannot fall asleep with the tv on, so I watch til I'm so tired and then turn the tv off. > Oh and insomnia you got big symptoms Hun !!!! > ----- Original Message ----- > From: jjw43837 >
Guest guest
Oh man I hate being in such bad debt, but since I quit my job in May 2000, we've had to rely on the credit cards way too many times. If it weren't for the CC, there would be times we wouldn't be able to afford groceries. I know it's bad but what else can one do, LOL. Melody inTX > Dr.'s appt. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Too many holistic and natural practitioners have been sucked into the Lee progesterone cream craze. Lee's work was never published in a peer-reviewed setting, and his "results" have never been able to be duplicated in peer-reviewed studies. Unfortunately, the progesterone cream craze is all over the Internet. Too often, "research" involves joining a progesterone cream ranger group on Yahoo, or reading some website that is peddling progesterone cream. If you are having bad hotflashes and bad mood swings, you are very likely terribly estrogen deprived. Hormones normal? What do your test results say? Go back and read through this group's archives about the damage progesterone cream has done to some of them. I'm sure others will chime in here with some helpful information for you. Guest guest
Hello Debbie, Welcome to the site and good information from many helpful and experienced women. I echo what Val suggests: that you sort through the site for info on progesterone and read all you can, and that estrogen may help you w/current symptoms of hot flashes and mood swings. As you will read, progesterone in its many doses and forms is implicated in a myriad of side effects that most women on this site are coping with and finding remedies for to balance what we've ingested or applied. We are all unique and each of our sagas is different, but you will recognize many like symptoms, I am sure. I was on the WP for about 5 months and thankfully during that time, only actually applied the WP progesterone cream on about 40 days of the 155 I was on the WP. And I never used the full prescribed amount due to itching and side effects. However, I'm still experiencing difficulties after a month of NO CREAMS and it appears it takes quite an unexpectably long time to release/discharge/eliminate the buildup of the Progesterone in my system. You can read earlier posts I made in the last week about my particular troubles. Wishing you good hunting information and perserverence to find solutions for your health, ElleBlue > > Hi Debbie, > > Too many holistic and natural practitioners have been sucked into the > Lee progesterone cream craze. Guest guest
Your doc is an idiot. Get an estradiol test on Day 14 of your cycle. I'm betting you're very low. At age 50, your ovaries are very likely giving up. Before they completely die, they are likely not producing much estrogen. I've learned a lot from www.menopausediet.com Dr. Gillespie has a private hormone group. It costs but is well worth the money for me. She would be advising you to use a small amount of bio-identical estradiol gel or a low-level estradiol patch. As long as you're having periods, you don't need any progesterone. Progesterone in menopause is needed only to protect the endometrium if you're using exogenous estrogen and not having normal periods. Remember, progesterone is an anti-estrogen. Estrogen is not a four-letter word. Estrogen is your friend. The women on this list who used progesterone cream on the Wiley Protocol have had any number of horrible problems. You can read a lot on www.rhythmicliving.com Their experience is that the P cream gets stuck in the fat and it takes a long time (if ever) to fully release. Of course, the WP dictated much more P cream than you've used. I got on this list to read about the Wiley Protocol and to see how others were doing with it. I was hesitant to try it because of the huge amounts of progesterone cream and because there is considerable research that shows that progesterone cream may not protect the endometrium if you are using estrogen. The longer I hung around, the worse it got. I followed the Endau/ Lee/Vicki Queen/Rhonda stuff for two years. During those two years, I LOST bone density even though I used the P cream as indicated. I was flashing like crazy. I then tried sublingual tri-est and compounded progesterone caps. I did that for five months during which I was a crying, depressed mess. Testing at the end of five months showed I had NO estrogen and gobs of progesterone. It is no wonder I was such a mess. Progesterone is the "make you fat" "make you crave chocolate" "spike your blood glucose" hormone. You only need enough to protect the endometrium and the delivery method does matter. Research does not support P cream for endometrial protection. Whenever you go to a website/group that is selling something, you should examine things carefully. Some people will say anything to sell their potions. BTW, Rhonda threw me off her list for posting some studies about progesterone that did not support her sales. Here is a good article for you to read: http://www.mja.com.au/public/issues/182_05_070305/wre10534_fm.html Val -----Original Message-----From: rhythmicliving [mailto:rhythmicliving ]On Behalf Of Deborah Lessard hello My dr. asked me if i still was having periods and i am so he would not give me estrogen, so what can i use for the hotflashes and mood swings, i am going to throw away my cream and never use it again, you said you are stillhaving problems from the cream even thou you are not on it anymore, what kind of problems? i feel tired and sick to my stomache and dizzy all the time. debbie .. Guest guest
Hi Debbie, Welcome. You are very welcome here. I want to tell you that women have overdosed on low dose over the counter progesterone cream. If your skin is good at absorbing you can build it up very fast.  Very often when I bleed at the wrong time in my cycle -- I need more estrogen. For some odd reason progesterone blocking my e seems to do that. When I have upped the E the spotting goes away. When the P gets way too high the periods just stop.  LaurelHelloI am new here and maybe this isn't the site for me,,i am currently on a compounded progesterone cream and i am having alot of problems on it i thought maybe someone could help me, i was on 10mgs and i started getting dizzy and i bloat up so i went to 5 mgs still dizzy, i have been having problems with this for about 2 months now, i have been on the cream for a year, i am 50 and was told i was not ovulating so my doctor put me on estrostep a bc pill but i didn;t want to take it, so i reserched and found out about progesterone cream the dr. had me on prempro to stop my bleeding, i bled for 8 weeks and that was the first problem i had ever had so i thought menopause he told me my hormones were normal (?) i have really bad hotflashes and really bad mood swings.Debbie
Guest guest
What is Endau cream? I've heard about this for a few years? Is that one of the MLM things? Geez! Do they have any idea how bad this can be?  Progesterone overdosing can easily lead to suicide. I talked to a lot of women when the WP was sailing along and I never talked to someone who wasn't sick. Only ones who were ok were those who didn't absorb! I did talk to more than one woman that got suicidally depressed and psychotic. It's like giving someone an overdose of barbiturates and telling them it is their fault!  I'm concerned that you are od'd on P Will your doctor work with you?  LaurelHi ,Thanks for the quick response, i am guilty of going on these yahoo groups and this one site, this woman pushes her endau cream and i tried it and it did nothing but cost alot of money, when you say that i am estrogen deprived what do you mean? I want to go off the cream completely, but i am afraid of the mood swings because i get really nasty to my family and they say you aren;t on your cream, but to be honest the cream isn't helping my moods any more i have been really moody the last couple of days and i am still taking the cream it is just smaller dose, maybe i should go back to the 10 mg but i get so tired and bloated and hunrgy that i don't want to, i will look at the archives. thanksDebbieValarie wrote:.
Guest guest
You doctor is uninformed.  If it were me I'd get a new one, but if you have to there is education. Dr. Vliet has good books for educating a practitioner about women having low estrogen levels and still cycling. She refers to her practice and to scientific studies. Too much progesterone makes me nauseated and tired and cranky . E did at first, but I felt nauseated and elated and happy with lots of energy.  Hey, I finally realized I'm over the progesterone super sensitive olfactory system.  Progesterone got me feeling so pregnant I couldn't stand the smell of anything!  LaurelhelloMy dr. asked me if i still was having periods and i am so he would not give me estrogen, so what can i use for the hotflashes and mood swings, i am going to throw away my cream and never use it again, you said you are stillhaving problems from the cream even thou you are not on it anymore, what kind of problems? i feel tired and sick to my stomache and dizzy all the time.debbieel
Guest guest
I know Rhonda did not help me but just confused me, where do you get the estrogen online at? My gyn gave me the prempro just to help stop the bleeding so after using it i found Rhonda's site and that is where i was told i should use the p cream.. The birth control pills my dr. wanted me to use had estrogen in it the dosing was different every week so i guess i should of figured it was e that i needed not p but when i first used the pr cream i felt so good, but that didn't last long..Valarie wrote: Please remember that any estrogen or progesterone product from a compounding pharmacy has not likely been tested in any scientific studies. As you proceed into menopause, there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't use a small amount of estradiol if you're getting low. As long as you're having periods, there is no need for progesterone. I buy my own estrogen and progesterone online and dose myself. I get my lab tests online as well. I use my doc only for pap smears and ultrasounds. If your doc is an idiot, you may have to do that too. I'm glad you're figuring out that Rhonda has a profit motive. That, in itself, makes her "medical advice" questionable. Val -----Original Message-----From: Deborah Lessard Thanks Val I was on the message board of Rhonda's and all she wanted to do was sell me endau cream which i did try and it did nothing for me...So she finally told me that i might be sensitive to it and i decided to leave the group so i found this one which is so much more informative..I will talk to my dr. my compounding pharm. which is a women wanted me to try this stuff that had estrogen in it along with some other things i can;t remember but that is when my doc. said no because of still bleeding, should i just quit the cream? I feel so bloated when i reach like the 10 day on the cream that i feel 9 months pregnant, i am going to go off the cream and see what happens, i know when i am off it i start feeling better like after two days so i will see what happens. DebbieValarie wrote: Your doc is an idiot. Get an estradiol test on Day 14 of your cycle. I'm betting you're very low. At age 50, your ovaries are very likely giving up. Before they completely die, they are likely not producing much estrogen. . Get your email and more, right on the new Yahoo.com
Guest guest
It is odd that the P cream feels good at first. I found that too back in 2000 when a women's health person told me "oh you don't need estrogen - you are estrogen dominant!"  I had the blood tests from Vliet's office showing my P was fertile myrtle and the E was dragging, but still - I was so clued out about this stuff. And I was so E and thyroid deprived that I couldn't think!! LaurelI know Rhonda did not help me but just confused me, where do you get the estrogen online at? Guest guest
How does one go about getting off the progesterone cream? Do you do it cold turkey or just reduce your dosages?.
