Okay.. that means that by upping protein content in my breads I did hit

on the right track.. I know that the difference in the recipe has made my

breads more satisfying and my carb cravings have been drastically

reduced... One of my buns..with either egg or peanut butter on it.. and I

have a meal that satisfies without triggering a carb attack.... So I

still have the option of quick to grab/portable meals...

wow... I'm patting myself on the back here.. this all started as a trial

and error experiment on my part!

Topper, it's any and all bread, whether white or whole wheat,

commercial or homemade, that drive him up! And it can also be in the

form of " sugar-free " cookies, which is an oxymoron. Sugar free

products may have no sugar, but they have flour which is WORSE than

sugar!! Darn. He belongs to a Diabetes yahoo group, and it seems to

be a common reaction. But you know what he does? He buys high-

protein bread mix that he makes in a bread machine. It is much

better on his blood sugar.

Hi, I was just thinking, speaking of trying to add more protein to

carby foods...a while back I was trying to add soy protein to stuff,

UNTIL I found out that too much soy was a problem for hypothyroid

people. Is there another product like that to add to foods to

increase their protein content?

I really did enjoy soy milk and other items...sorry to see that

option go.

Topper, you are hilarious. I put my rocks down.

Sounds like you are doing a great high protein diet. One other tip

we have learned pertains to milk. Milk has lactose which is sugar.

So we replaced his milk with cream (whipping or not) which has

negligible to zero carbs. And when the cream is too rich for a

recipe, we just add cold water to it. Still has a great taste with

practically no carbs or sugars.

He also orders several products from here:

http://stores.yahoo.com/carbsmart/

He gets low carb bread mix, pancakes, high protein mixes you add to

grits, etc. Also, if you really want to get picky--peanut butter has

sugar in it. So he switched to natural peanut butter.

We also eat quite a lot of nuts during the day.
