Guest guest
Hello everyone, I would like to tell everyone that I appreciate everyone hints and thoughts on what they do to be able to sit for longer periods of time etc. I am working on better posture, I have already bought a new chair as we moved into a new building but I am not sure it works for me even though we sat in every chair in the store. I think until you sit in the chair for longer than 15 minutes you really don't know. It has 3 adjustments, back, seat and height but just can't seem to get comfortable. Added extra lumbar support, raised the height of the computer screen. I don't looked down at paperwork, etc. I'm wearing both collars that I have, one soft and then my Aspen collar when going on rough road rides or having a very bad day. It's helping the extreme back pain and upper back, shoulder and arm pain but some reason I'm now getting dizzy and having increased headaches. Urggh, fix one thing and create others. Do any of you with possible instabilty get really tired too? I mean the type of tired that you cannot stay awake. I have already been diagnosed with sleep apnea (just regular not central) but I will sleep for 2-4 hours in the afternoon and then sleep or I think sleep throughout the night. Okay, just a big thank you from me for everyone being such a great support. I'm looking forward to my visit at TCI and hope Dr. B can give me some answers of some sort. Take care,
Guest guest
This may sound a little goofy but get rid of the lumbar support in your chair. We have lumbar support in both of our cars that my husband loves. If he forgets and leaves it activated in my car I get a terrible headache. It took me a few days to figure out what was going on the first time it happened now I always check. I cannot sit with a lumbar support in any type of chair. ________________________________ To: Sent: Sun, December 12, 2010 5:01:08 PM Subject: Thanks to everyone for their hints and help re: unable to sit post  Hello everyone, I would like to tell everyone that I appreciate everyone hints and thoughts on what they do to be able to sit for longer periods of time etc. I am working on better posture, I have already bought a new chair as we moved into a new building but I am not sure it works for me even though we sat in every chair in the store. Guest guest
,and all... Just wanted to comment on this.... First, I don't think it is goofy at all. I am sure that you have issues with the lumbar supports in chairs. That being said I don't believe that all Chiarians should get rid of the lumbar supports. I know that for me, they feel great... I am sure that this is the case with some others. But some others may want to consider avoiding them. I guess I would try to figure out why the lumbar support felt bad.... Are you dealing with a tethered cord? Syrinx? Does the lumbar support throw your spine, neck, head into a " bad position " ??? Any of these things could be causing issues. I would try to figure out what it was, as this may help in other situations. I believe that chairs, etc., like pillows which can affect the positioning of the Chiari spine/body can cause issues with many. Learning what works for YOU, as an individual, is sooooooo important. Speaking of that, I just found a new pillow that is pretty good for me. ( no guarantees for anyone else_) I have used a memory foam contour pillow for years and have been pleased. I was recently talked into trying a new Tempurpedic design, to replace my ancient pillow. " It is the " Symphony pillow " , and yes, they are expensive. ;-{ They are a more traditional shape and made of a slightly softer memory foam, yet they still give the good support and head/neck positioning that I need. I have REALLY enjoyed it! Just thought that I would mention it.. Have to get back to gift wrapping! <g> arrgghhhhhhhhhhhhhh Take care, Sally R...
