Guest guest
Here is some information that I received recently that may be of interest to those concerned with autism or PDD. A program on SECRETIN is supposed to air on DATELINE on Tuesday Sept. 29 at 10:00 pm on NBC. This may be subject to change. I have also read about the topic of SECRETIN in a book called BIOLOGICAL TREATMENTS FOR AUTISM AND PDD. That book mentions that the secretin levels can be measured. The book also associates the phenomenon with wheat or food allergies, and yeast overgrowth. Amazing Autism find >The mother of an autistic boy may have stumbled on an incredible discovery in >the search for a cure. American Beck said a hormone drug given to her >son for stomach problems caused a dramatic change in his behaviour. Within >weeks he started to speak, respond and use the toilet- things he had never >done >before. Experts have described his turnaround as near miraculous. " We noticed >an amazing difference in eye contact, " Mrs Beck said " He became calmer and >started sleeping all night long. " We then realised he was no longer >exhibiting >the facial tics he had for two years. " Three weeks after being given >secretin, > began saying phrases such as 'I love you'. " >Autism executive director Golding said the develpment was >interesting and could be a new direction in treatment. " Many autistic >children >have digestive problems and with this, hormones are excreted which could lead >to >activity in the brain that causes autism. But she warned it could just be >that >improving stomach conditions made the children feel better, which made them >more >communicative. the end
