Does anyone else experience this? le, is it sore on both sides? If it hurts on both sides, it sounds like it could be from the lifting. How long has it been sore? Here is a silly question, but could your bra be too tight? Do you feel any lumps?

My doctor said it was swollen lymph nodes. Ouch, those can hurt! I hope you feel better soon!
Guest guest
It is really sore on both sides and it's been sore for awhile - but only when you touch that area. I was just putting it down to lifting. Today though - it was more sore inside closer to the middle when I laid down. That wasn't a silly question at all but no, it's not too tight. I don't feel any lumps. I was thinking it was more where my lymph nodes are as far as being sore in the armpit area. Thanks for your response! le > > le, is it sore on both sides? Does anyone else experience this? It's hard to say just by you describing it, but in that area it's either the pectoralis muscle that you might have irritated by weight lifting or it's the soft tissue of the breast that is inflammed, which can happen in fibrocystic disease (NOT cystic fibrosis... but fibrocystic disease or changes of the breast, a benign breast disease, extremely common in women above 30). The way you describe it, I think it is most likely the pectoralis muscle. If you don't want to stop lifting weights, just lower your weights a bit during your workouts, and be sure to stretch well after. You are right that there are lymph nodes in that area, and they can be tender if you have inflammation in the breast. However, painful lymph nodes, are usually swollen, which doesn't seem to be the case here (since you haven't felt any lumps). The pectoralis muscle inserts in the armpit area, and often when muscles are pulled, it's in the area of the insertion where you feel the worst pain. Pain to the touch is also caracteristic of musculoskeletal injury, which tends to confirm my hypothesis (oh, now I'm really sounding like a doctor *rolleyes in sarcasm*). Guest guest
Sorry so late to respond le -- I know that this subject is very scary -- have had those same pains though -- Dr. said what Janick said - working my pecs with too high a weight -- peace ab-who says Janick we love it.... we need a Doctor in the house!!!\ > I was thinking it was more where my > > lymph nodes are as far as being sore in the armpit area. Guest guest
Thank you so much for the replies ladies. I really appreciate it. I'm thinking it's the weight lifting too - it just scared me when there was pain in my breast closer to the nipple area - I figured lifting wouldn't effect that area too much plus I don't feel pain when I am lifting but it makes more sense it being that. I did call my nurse practioner yesterday and she said to lay off the caffine and chocolate for 48 hours and take some vitamin E and see what happens - she said it could be the fiber whatever it was Janick called it. I feel better now though knowing that if I don't feel any lumps, it's probably not that. I agree AmyBeth - it is really nice having a doctor " in the house " . It is also really nice having a super group of ladies that are willing to listen and offer advice on the personal stuff. I know we don't want to get too off the topic of Taebo too much but I do really appreciate having people to turn to. It's like having sisters (which I don't have) to ask things. le > > > Sorry so late to respond le -- I know that this subject is > very scary -- have had those same pains though -- Dr. said what > Janick said - working my pecs with too high a weight -- > > peace > ab-who says Janick we love it.... we need a Doctor in the > house!!!\ > > > > > I was thinking it was more where my > > > lymph nodes are as far as being sore in the armpit area. > Thanks > > > for your response! > > > > You are right that there are lymph nodes in that area, and they > can > > be tender if you have inflammation in the breast. Guest guest
I'm really not sure, le. I've only experienced soreness after using weights. Just to be safe, mention it to your doctor. Guest guest
le, It probably IS just lifting too much weight or fibrocystic mass, but you may want to ask for a diagnostic mammogram just to be sure. If you're younger than 40, they may give you some static about it, but if you're feeling changes in the breast that haven't gone away, I would insist on a mammogram. When it turns out to be nothing, you'll feel better just knowing that it REALLY is nothing. :-) I had to insist on getting one myself, and I'm really glad I did. I would have liked a better result thought :-) Jane > Thank you so much for the replies ladies.
