Hi!

My 18 year old son was decompressed by Dr. B. at TCI in January. It was his

second surgery. He also has EDS (hypermobility type). A plastic surgeon closed

him and an additional week was given because of the EDS before removing the

stitches. The area looks great and there haven't been any complications.

When he was about 7 or 8, due to crowding of his teeth (common with EDS), a

dentist created some apparatus to resolve the problem. It quickly overshot the

mark, over time the gaps widened(in my opinion), and my son now has braces. He

is also going to need 4 dental implants. Till your posting it never occurred to

me that perhaps he, too, might have problems healing, even though he did well

with surgery.

If you have EDS is the healing process specific just to the patient or also to

the location? Has anyone with EDS had dental implants with or without bone

grafting? What has been your experience?

Thanks!

Constance

Hi,

I have been off the lists for a LONG time, and will explain that later. Has

anyone with EDS had trouble with periodontal work not working? I am going back

today for my THIRD time of him working in the same area. The grafts do not heal

or hold on, they get horribly inflamed and then slough off. I made sure he

knows I have EDS, but he says it has nothing to do with it.

Does anyone have experience in this area? Any thoughts on what I can do to help

get the grafts to heal up and hold on? (So far we have tried cadaver grafts and

my own skin grafts.)
