Guest guest
A friend sent me information about a job at this company. Consult A Doctor claims to provide 24/7 access to a doctor by phone or internet for a subscription fee. You really have to see this. www.consultadr.com/default.aspx The basic plan costs $5.99/mo membership fee and $34.95 per phone consultation appointment, 44.95 for a priority tele-consult, $19.95 for an e-consult. They claim that data show 70% of all doctor visits are superfluous, therefore using tele consults with their company will save health care money. Really? I did not see any citations. Other tid bits: Their doctors can provide prescriptions " when appropriate " for abx, antihistamines etc, however they won't prescribe controlled substances. huh? From the FAQ: " A Consult A Doctor physician has the ability (if medically appropriate) to prescribe a wide range of products. These include, but are not limited to, drugs such as antibiotics, antihistamines and maintenance medicines. Our physicians do not prescribe medications regulated by the Drug Enforcement Agency or those that pose a potential for abuse or addiction. And, Consult A Doctor physicians do not prescribe lifestyle drugs. " Their 'rigorous' credentialing includes NCQA. " Our credentialing process includes the National Committee for Quality Assurance, background checks, research any disciplinary actions through the AMA and the Provider's respective State Board of Medicine. " I'm not a Luddite but I just don't know about this. Kathleen (who is thinking of taking up a career knitting socks)
