I am so happy to hear that Jane! If you can beat cancer, you can conquer

Tae-Bo girl! Just keep on trying! Which tapes do you have, by the way?

Way to go! I hope all of you exams are uneventful :-)

I finished my chemo in late April and had the last of my surgeries (I

think- may have to do some " tweaking " here and there) in June. Since

then I've just been trying to get back to " normal " . I finally have

enough hair to feel it blow in the wind- which is a good thing! It's

so nice to go outside when it's windy and not worry about my wig

blowing off! :-0

Take care

Welcome to the group Jane and congrats to you on your story. I can tell

already you are going to be a big inspiration here. Hugs to you....

New to the group

Hi all. I'm Jane. I'm 34. Mom of 2 boys ( 7 and 5) both of

whom I homeschool. I've had my tapes for about 2 years and I love

them.

I did the tapes 3-4 times/week for about 4-5 months and was really

pleased with the results and with the way I was feeling. For some

reason I fell off the wagon for awhile. I started getting back into

it, but then found a lump in my breast last August.

Surgery and chemo kept me from doing much of anything and I was told

not to expect to be able to do strenuous exercise, especially with my

left arm. I was getting ready to give my tapes away a few weeks ago,

but thought " what the heck " and tried one of the Basic Live tapes.

Needless to say, it kicked my butt, but was so much fun I tried again

a couple of days later. Last night I made it through one of the

Advanced Live tapes. I was so pumped up! I'd forgotten what a rush

tae-bo can be!

For a lot of reasons, some of them being the chemo drug/steroid roller

coaster, I am about 40 lbs overweight. I am in a size 16 and refuse

to stay here. I would also like to get back some energy so I can

better keep up with my boys. They are too much fun and I don't want

to miss out.

I checked again with my surgeon and she said go for it, but take it

easy. I'm " joining " the group because I know that I'll need some

encouragement in order to stay on the wagon.

Anyway - Thanks in advance. And pardon me, but I must preach for a

second here. Ladies, do your monthly breast self-exams! Forget the

article that says they're not important. Trust me. They are. If I

hadn't done mine, I might not be here now. If you're due for a yearly

mammogram, get it done. As much of a pain in the rear as surgery and

chemo and all is, if you have to do it, you want to do it when it can

work - in other words, the earlier the better.

I'm done preaching. :-)

See ya'll around.

Jane

A good friend from Wisconsin found a lump New Year's Day - they just

removed the lump and some lymph nodes so she just had the radiation

instead of chemo. It's scary to hear that one out of 10 women will

have breast cancer especially when you count the women you know . . .

you just never know. I'm glad you are starting back with Taebo.

Thanks for sharing your story and for the reminder on the exam.

Jane,

Welcome to the group! I am so glad you decided to give Tae Bo

another try! Just take it at your own pace and I'm sure you will

have amazing results. As I was reading your story I was reminded of

one of my students. I am a Tae Bo Instructor in Virginia. I taught a

student who just attended a Tae Bo Certification Boot Camp last

weekend. I had written her a note of encouragement before she left

and this is what she wrote back to me:

" I would like to thank you for all of your kind words and continued

support. This time last year I was fighting cancer, and trying to get

through my last chemo treatment. What a difference a year makes!

You taught me how to make a fist and throw my first punch J. I will

make every attempt to relax and embrace the weekend ahead. "

Isn't that amazing? I had no idea she was a cancer survivor! That

note is the reason that I teach! Just to have one person like her in

my class...that's what it's all about :) Anyway, I know you probably

have no aspirations of becoming a TaeBo Instructor...I just wanted to

let you know that anything is possible if you keep believing in

yourself :)

Good Luck with your Tae Bo journey! This is a great group and we will

definitely support you along the way :)

I got 4 days in last week, and made it through the Monday workout. 3

weeks to a habit .....

I have the original 3 tape set plus some of the live tapes. AL 1-5

and BL 1-3. I really like the live tapes. My boys have the Jr. tape

and have a lot of fun with it too.

Thanks for the encouragement. I just looked back at my calendar for

last year and realized that a year really does make a difference. One

year ago tomorrow night, all of my hair fell out. It was one of the

major low points of the whole journey. A week later, I was flat on my

back with an infection we were afraid I wouldn't beat.

Who knows? Maybe in a year I just might want to teach TaeBo. By then,

I might be able to make it through every rep on the advanced tapes

anyway :-)
