Guest guest
Dean, I use to have nocturnal seizures, but they were just during my adolescence. The problem was that as I had Tethered Cord Syndrome I stop growing. I had 16 and I still look like a child. It was very strange that I had these seizures every 3 months in the same date: August 17, December 17, February 17 and then April 17. After the first seizure my parents took me to several neurologists but they just said they were seizures due to adolescence and gave me medicine for this, but the seizures continued. So my parents took me to an endocrinologist and she gave me hormones to grow up for a month and the seizures never came back. I do not know your age, perhaps you are not ³growing² any more and you are an adult already, but as the pituitary gland gets affected by Chiari and it could have many different hormonal problems as a consequence, perhaps you have an undetected hormonal problem and it is better to change and see another kind of doctor not just an NL. You can see a video about Chiari and hormonal problems in the TCI web page. It just explain a few of the problems that could appeared as a consequence of Chiari but it gives you and idea of what is happening with the pituitary gland, perhaps you need to look further as this gland has many many functions in our body. All the meds they try seem to make it worse so I really have to watch what I take so I'm down to only two left that I have found do not cause it. The truth is they really suck when you have one and you know when you have one trust me on that. Well as a side note with no insurance and the inability to work I have had 22 doctors tell me that I need to see a doctor. I take away the fact that they all agree there is something wrong with me. I still get up most days and try and that is all wecan hope for. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hello, My son started having nocturnal seizures at age 4. In fact the MRI for the seizures led us to find out he had chari/syringomyelia.. they diagnosed my son with benign rolandic epilepsy. I was told chiari and seizures have nothing in common. My son took meds for about 6 yrs and we weaned him off so far he has been seizure free for almost 2 years,,, or at least we havent saw him having any seizures... > > nocturnal seizures This is something I have had to deal with for years > and it sucks for lack of a better way of putting it.
