Guest guest
CJ: I was sitting with another student the other day who had an interest in autism and said something to the effect, don't all people with autism have this physical disfiguring aspect? lol I said, autism is a spectrum and I could have it and how would YOU know? He looked at me like I was from Mars and that is the first step. Your making an assumption based on your experience and education that I am normal. Define normal and what autism means to you? What does it look like? Look at my sentences. "Your making an assumption based on your experience and education that I am normal." This is MY opinion and fighting words that I am reflecting back. When I say, "Define normal and what does autism mean to you? What does it look like?" I am just gathering information. It is all in our communication style. I am not making a judegment call. It is all in how we communicate. Just a twist in our words can change our meaning. LOL Just me.
