Guest guest
Hi, all. Just wanted to know if anyone else has a problem with their glucose. I have been taking Prednisone off and on for years and diabetes runs on both sides of my family. I am seeing my doc today (1 week early) b/c I have had elevated readings. I had a glucose monitor that is my husband's, so I began to check mine over a period of 5 days and I am definitely having a problem. Been a couple years since they have done a glucose tolerance, so I am sure he will order one. I am still flaring and right now, achy joints, stiff, rash (esp in the late afternoon, evening), no fever thank goodness. Just wondering, and welcome to all the newcomers. Guest guest
Gail, Since I was diagnosed with Still's in February, I have become insulin dependent diabetic. I was a diabetic before the diagnoses but was only on pills. My blood sugar went crazy during an eposide. The doctor had me go on insulin when they prescribed the Prednisone since it wrecks havoc with the blood sugar. I check my blood three to four times a day and give myself insulin shots to curb the sugar spikes. I will be like this until I am off the prednisone. My primary care doctor was going to change my insulin but my prednizone was increased so it did not change. looking forward to the day it does change and I can maybe not be on insulin. I have also seen a diabetic educator and nutritionist to help with maintaining the blood sugar. this has helped and also I have gained so weight due to the prednizone but not as much as it could have been if I have not been aware of the pitfalls of the meds and disease. being to sore and tired to work out has been a real problem, but I have tried to move a little bit every day that I feel great and try not to do much when I don't. hope this helps and get the blood sugar checked, A1C is the best number to know.
