I am wondering why you are bothering to read messages on this board and Suzanne

Sommers' books if you feel fine without hormones. Your mother's story is tragic,

but if she

had hot flashes and " felt crazy " for 36 years after a hysterectomy, she was

obviously

getting an insufficient dose of estrogen. Saying that estrogen didn't help her

is like saying

" I gave that dog 1/4 cp of food a day, but obviously the food didn't help him

because he

died of starvation. " Every woman needs to take the exact amount of estrogen

(not horse

estrogen like I'm sure your mother was taking) that makes her feel good and

takes away

her symptoms--no more and no less. If she feels she doesn't need estrogen or

want

estrogen, then that is her choice, and nobody is going to force her into it. But

some of us

desperately need our estrogen in order to keep from suffering horrendous

symptoms, not

because we are trying to pretend we are 20 again.
