Pharmasolvent Grade is not USP DMSO [Re: Re: pharmaSolvent grade]

This is *not* USP grade. It is pharmasolvent grade, two different

grades. It's the exact same stuff that most of us are buying from farm

supply sites like Jeffers Equine.

The eBay ad states that it is 99.99% pure *but Gaylord's published

analysis says that their Pharmasolvent grade is 99.98%* pure. I find his

advertising to be misleading, although it is a fine distinction.

This is not what, as might be assumed by the uninitiated reader upon

seeing the term Pharma, would be dispensed by a pharmacy. That would be

only the USP grade. It is a fine distinction to be sure but it is

a distinction and one of which the buyer should be made aware.

USP DMSO is 99.99% pure by GLC analysis where as the pharmasolvent grade

is 99.98% pure by GLC analysis. No one could sell USP grade for $34.99 a

gallon, it was $14,000 for 55 gallons when I priced it eight years ago.

The last time I bought a gallon from pet_supplies_4_less.com I paid

$27.50, which was about seven years ago. It is 90% DMSO and is labeled

* " DMSO 90%* /Neogen® Vet/ Industrial grade solvent " www.neogen.com /

They also sell a more pure bottle which says 99%, the product is called

" *DMSO 99%* /Neogen® Vet/ Industrial grade solvent. "
