Guest guest
You're right, Jim. I forgot about people taking drugs. These folks make your argument with scientific discovery...Chemical Enhancement of Skin Absorption www.chiactivate.com/scientific-journals/skin-absorption.shtml My mistake...I thought you were specifically referring to Castor Oil which has long record of internal use. DMSO has not been used internally quite as long as Castor Oil to my knowledge, but it too has been deemed non-toxic. While one never knows what will happen when combining two substances deemed " safe " the body will normally create a reaction if it is not. I guess it might be hard to tell with Castor Oil since bowel urgency is one of it's effects. How do you tell if DMSO increases that urgency and if it's toxic or just increasing the normal action of Castor Oil? Kind of like ingesting too many lobelia plants; what's too many? The body will tell you long before you're dead. Same rationale for caffeine: you'll vomit or get diarrhea before it hurts you...and it might help the prostate on the way thru' the system. ly, I rarely use DMSO to increase the bioavailability of something else. DMSO has a host of benefits all by itself. Most of my combinations have to do with mitigating the stink than making another substance work better. Janet says DMSO cannot transport anything larger than 1000 daltons. While I don't understand that measurement, I do know that it correlates with the molecular weight = DMSO MW 78.13. Because I don't understand it, I do research the molecular weight of substances that I suspect have the potential to be toxic. Are you sure about B12? I've read so many docs who use DMSO-B12 topically that I'd be surprised if taking the mixture internally would be any more beneficial than B12 by itself since it doesn't play nice with stomach acid. At the same time, I wonder if topical application of dmso/B12 produces more than a placebo effect since the B12 molecule is so very large. Wonder what part of the molecule dissolves in the DMSO for dermal transport and of what benefit that component is to the body. These slight variations in molecular weight between different active B-12 compounds account for the approximate nature of the conversion ratio between the two measures pmol/L and pg/ml. Substance of high molecular weight such as insulin do not pass through the skin to any significant extent. Studies in our laboratory have revealed that a 90% concentration of DMSO is optimal for the passage of morphine sulfate dissoved in DMSO...................the possibility should always be considered that when DMSO is combined with another substance a new compound results which can then exert a greater or lesser influence on a given process. //api.ning.com/files/n5748T7-nM-p7VUtNv5uSgLVpUfpjMn2JavHI5aC49SSUKWZUoTGGK7BIvR\ 2hf1Zzuk5cb6sB3eHDXKtIvN5AQ2FELvNXtJj/AbsorptionofDrugs.ppt <http://api.ning.com/files/n5748T7-nM-p7VUtNv5uSgLVpUfpjMn2JavHI5aC49SSUKWZUoTGG\ K7BIvR2hf1Zzuk5cb6sB3eHDXKtIvN5AQ2FELvNXtJj/AbsorptionofDrugs.ppt>. www.nature.com/jid/journal/v56/n1/abs/5618086a.html //www.racoon.com/dcforum/DCForumID7/221.html //users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/M/Mole.html There is a distinction between what DMSO will dissolve or mix with, and what it will transport through the skin. The 1000 dalton limit is the limit of size that is imposed by the reverse osmosis membrane pore size of the epidermis ( skin ). Thus although DMSO may dissolve compounds of huge size (such as plastics), they will be unable to penetrate the skin. Care should still be given on open wounds, where the skin is no longer a barrier to large molecules. For this reason, I would never use DMSO gel on an open wound Marshall Dudley Thu, 20 Aug 2009 10:40: personal message to me post Silverlist conversation DimethylSulfoxide-DMSO RE: DMSO and aspirin Mon, 20 Jul 2009 08:49:48 -0500 Re: DMSO and Colloidal Silver Thu, 09 Dec 2010 20:45: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --- Re: castor oil and DMSO Date: Thu, 09 Jun 2011 09:44:12 -0000 To: DimethylSulfoxide-DMSO I have a problem with your basic premise; " If its good enough to eat, its good to mix with DMSO. " (Paraphrasing)One of the reasons to use DMSO is to increase " Bioavailability " .Because when you ingest a substance, some of it is 'consumed' by stomach acid, some by enzymes and bacteria in the stomach, and then ALL the blood from the intestines goes to the liver for 'first pass', where a significant amount of the substance is 'Metabolised' into a biologically inert substance. All well and good, if you want to get more " Bang for the buck " from Vit. B12, for instance. But, depending on the quantity, there are many substances I would ingest, that might be harmful if taken with DMSO. Caffien, perhaps Some medications? At least thats my thinking.Jim > > > > > > > wonder if its safe to use DMSO in combination with castor oil in topical > > application, had a broken leg with pins and plate, and use castor oil on my > > liver for general overall health as advised by Dr. david Jubb. > > > > But am worried if any of the compounds in castor oil would be toxic drawn > > in by DMSO?? > > > > Thx
