Guest guest
As I understand it... the thyroid and adrenals are on the sympathetic side of the autonomic nervous system. If we are naturally towards parasympathetic (have more parasympathetic nerves) then we would likely tend towards weak smaller adrenals. Dr. G said we literally have smaller endocrine glands. Weakness in the entire sympathetic side would appear to come together. Weak adrenals and weak thyroid likely go together. I suspect that the ice age carnivores developed eating the entire animal especially the glands. (I don't have a reference. I'm speculating based on what I've read from Weston Price and native populations.) Perhaps we carnivores are predisposed to weak little endocrine glands and we need to be eating the glands of animals? If you look at a table of the autonomic nervous system you might see yourself on one side or the other unless you are balanced. But I don't think the balanced people are on these groups! (-: This was created by washington.edu for kids so it is easierhttp://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/auto.htmlThere is a great table there. I'm am parasympathetic dominant. I normally drink an insane amount of water and pee a lot. When I increased my calcium and followed the Kelley diet for a carnivoure I noticed that I stopped peeing as much. The table might help someone see if they tend to be more of one or the other as opposed to balanced. That site is for kids. The serious site is http://www.nda.ox.ac.uk/wfsa/html/u05/u05_010.htmThis is a more detailed tablehttp://www.nda.ox.ac.uk/wfsa/html/u05/u05_b02.htmWhat confuses me... Estrogen wakes up my sympathetic, but it seems to make more saliva. ? When I read the table I have a better understanding about why low E or too much P can make my uterus cramp. See the table. When I get more E it settles down (sympathetic). When my thyroid is low my eyes water like crazy. See Increased lacrimal gland secretions. If we learn to understand this we can support our bodies with diet, nutrition and lifestyle as well as the hormones. Laurel
