Our Conference speaker this year is Carole 'Cat' Triller. Carole will be speaking on Chronic Pain and Depression with an ongoing illness. Specifically Still's Disease that will include an in depth discussion with the audience on depression and suicide. Carole will also be including information on ways to improve health by changing and watching diets as well as meditation, visualization and deep breathing for pain control. She will also have information on medications for depression that can help with some pain issues. Carole has been the President of the International Still's Disease Foundation since it's inception before 2000. Carole's diagnoses was Adult Onset Still's Disease, AOSD, in 1994 and like many she waited four years for a diagnosis. She went through the " usual " systemic forms of the disease and then had it move into a chronic stage. Over the years she has found semi-remission, but with damage to both knees. She will be having the first of her joint replacements after the conference this year. Carole currently volunteers with Peer Support Services, a branch of the CMHA ( Canadian Mental Health Assoc) She works as an Advocate for people with Mental and Physical Disabilities. She spends time on the Psychiatric ward at the local hospital, and her dog Jake and she visit a residential setting where he is the star and she is his side-kick. Carole also Facilitates a Chronic Pain Group, where they deal with the very real issue of the Depression that goes with it. She also maintains the Still's Disease Foundations Crisis Line for those needing emotional support. There is usually no Saturday check in available but the hotel has extended five rooms for us at the rate of $ 75.00 plus 12% room tax. These rooms do go fast so early booking is advised. There is an additional $ 5.00 per room, per day Resort Fee, allowing access to the Fitness Center, in-room coffee, unlimited local & 800 calls as well as free High-Speed Internet Access in the Business Center. The rooms are for single or double occupancy with one king or two queen sized beds. Any Deluxe rooms requiring triple or quad occupancy will be surcharged an additional $ 15.00 per guest, per room, per night. (Children age fourteen and under, in the same room with parents in existing bedding, are free.) RESERVATION PROCEDURES The cut off date for room reservations at the ABOVE QUOTED PRICE is AUGUST 5, 2010 - 08/05/10. Prior to cut-off date, individuals are encouraged to book their reservation ON LINE. To receive your special group rate members will need to enter the assigned Reservation ID;OISCC09 through the Hotel' website www.orleanscasino.com/groups Prior to cut-off date, individuals may also call Hotel's Room Reservations Department direct at and MUST identify themselves as a member of the group INTERNATIONAL STILL'S CONFERENCE. Without this group name, you will not receive the special rate as noted in this notice.and may be advised that the Hotel is sold out. Operating on Pacific Time, hours of operations are Monday through Friday from 6:00am to 11:00pm; Saturday and Sunday 7:00 am to 11:00pm. A TWO NIGHT MINIMUM IS REQUIRED for booking with the equivalent of one (1) night's room and tax required at the time of booking. The Hotel accepts credit cards with an expiration date, American Express; Diners Club, Master Card; Discover; VISA; JCB or Cashier's Check. Hotel accepts company/personal checks for payment of deposits only and must be received a minimum of (30) days prior to arrival date. The hotel offers scooters for rent and in the past has several small refrigerators for use in rooms for medications. It is advised you bring a small collapsible cooler if needed for medications if you can because the refrigerators are in limited amounts. They do have elevators to the conference rooms and upstairs restaurants. The Hotel offers smoking and non smoking rooms. They make every effort to accommodate your needs so please ask if you have any questions. It's a nice Hotel with a lots of casino activities, coupon booklets if you check in with guest services, restaurants, coffee shops, gift shop, theater and bowling. They have a spa and spa services, swimming pool, Jacuzzi and lots more. Sunday, September 5th is usually when most arrive and we meet and greet in the early evening. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 6TH IS CONFERENCE DAY, some go home Tuesday and some will stay over.
