Guest guest
What is your name deal girl, if your mom is Vallerie, then pray tell us who you are? You are up against what you are seeing. Is her paper work in order? In the Links section on our home page you will find what kind of papers you will need. Our precious has been working very hard on it for us. Read the Lewy Body Association's information. She will need to be protected from wondering. Put locks that she can't figure out how to use on the doors. You may need to remove mirrors, and pictures that have reflective glass. The mirror effects some dementia patients, and it makes them have more hallucinations. The aggressive hallucinations are what you need to be on guard about. Get rid of any object, guns or knives, that she can use. They can become surprisingly strong sometimes. They have been known to severly hurt or kill the caregiver. Child proof your house diligently. You may need an alarm by her bed if she tries to get up at night, it will alert you. Some people like a baby monitor. There are many from which to choose. My dear I am getting so rum dumb I can't write anymore. It's off to dream land for me! My mom is in total denial nothing is wrong with her and it is tearing me apart. Jan. 05 she took a fall down the basement stairs and was constantly falling hurting herself and not saying anything, finally we ended up in ER and they concluded it was probably a serious of mini strokes but the falling and weakness in the legs still continued and in Nov 05 after MRI and ct scan nothing was found to be wrong with her. Well in May 06 she started seeing bugs and accusing my father of stealing from her and her neighbors spying on her with a laser and putting bugs in her room and knowing her every move and just moved to different parts of the house trying to hide until they still found her and scaring my father and he just took the notion she was crazy when she would accuse him of breaking and taking he r things and he would call me complaining. In June, she moved in with me to get away from the bugs and neighbors but the bugs still didn't go away took her to MD who thought a psychiatrist was needed not medical issue after two month of that the psychiatrist said medical problem a person doesn't get 70 and start having mental issues and referred back to MD and Neurologist well Md still says not medical so Neurologist is saying Dementia LBD but running test with the last one being some type of 6hr analysis and my mom is really upset with everyone and discontinue any help and has been told right now unable to stay alone but insist moving with her 90 year old mom who is encouraging her to come home. I have called my grandmother and explained to her what is going on and told her their is no way she can handle my mom with her problems and to stop encouraging her to come home and tell her to stick with her appointments. My dad has just basically walked away from the situation and it l eaves me holding the bag alone and I have a 3 and 11 year old to deal with in the mass of this confusion. The medication isn't working and the bugs still are with her and I'm feeling hopeless in how to handle all this alone and maintain my sanity so I'm hoping joining this group can help me to shed a little more light on what I'm up against. Sorry for the long email but I need help.

Guest guest
>I can emphatize with where you are now and the confusion and anxiety you are feeling. When my dad started hallucinating and the doctors kept changing meds things got progressively worse.. Your mom's condition is further complicated by the Parkinsons meds... I am not sure where you are located but if you let the group know they may be able to recommend someone in your area who is knowledgeable. I will tell you the key is changing only 1 med at a time and giving it a while for it to get into her system... It is comforting to know you can calm her down (but also exhausting and stressful for you).. Are there any good dementia facilities where you are??? My dad has been suffering for over 7 years and has no health issues. We were fortunate to finally get the right mix of drugs (Seroquel, Remeron) and find a great dementia only facility that knows how to treat this disease with dignity.. Keep posting.. It is a roller coaster ride and was such a relief for me to be able to find people who could answer my questions and just vent..
