Guest guest
Hello, everyone! Just to make things interesting, I thought I'd add text to this message! LOL (I sent the last one with no text.) Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well. I'm still struggling with the weight I've gained and I don't know what to do. I've tried to do this on my own, but I fail. I'm working out 4 times per week, but it isn't working since I'm still eating junk at least 50% of the time. I haven't had much time to post, so I feel bad for asking, but I really do need your help. I think the only thing left for me to do is a challenge.....no sweets or junk food/fast food until Thanksgiving. I'm going cold turkey (pardon the pun)! This will be hard since my b'day is 2 weeks before Thanksgiving this year and I LOVE chocolate cake! I'll buy the killer pants suit I saw in the Spiegel catelog instead. I knew if I posted this, at least one person would ask about it in the weeks to follow. So I'd have to be honest. Would anyone like to be my challenge buddy, if not for the entire duration of the challenge, then for a couple of weeks? Take care!

LOL LOL! > I'm still struggling with the weight > I've gained and > I don't know what to do. yes you do know! we all do... but honestly it is a hard thing to admit and to do!! what we all know is that we have to exercise and eat " right " . i have no problem with the exercise part, but the eating part is very hard for me, as you well know how about starting with portion control? eat whatever you want but cut the portion in, say, half. then start working on eating low/no fat. this is where im at now c'mon kimberly! i have realized and learned some of this from you, girl! also, for motivation, maybe you could try a book or two. coincidentally i am reading susan powters old book from 1988 (i believe)... you know, 'stop the insanity' ? she has a way with words as im sure lots of others do... check the library for something inspiring. > I'm working out 4 times per week, but it isn't working since I'm > still eating > junk at least 50% of the time. but it is working in other ways right? ive been working hard for 10 months and still seeing very sloooow results... but really i feel almost fantastic! so exercising is 'working' in some way -- try to think positively! btw my slooow results are from what i eat and i know that and am working on it slooowly so.... but hey im working on it >no sweets or junk food/fast food until > Thanksgiving. I'm going cold turkey (pardon the pun)! well ive never been one to cold turkey anything so im pretty sure that id feel deprived doing that and not do well. fast food is no problem for me... gotta like the 'light choices' menus at wendys and mcd's now... but sweets and a few potato chips are hard ones! what is a killer for me is halloween! it is scary all right! scary on my gut and butt! LOL! oh and today is thanksgiving here in canada and i ate a big meal that i really didnt need (yes including a piece of pumpkin pie) but it also consisted of salad and veggies so it wasnt all bad. >This will be hard > since my b'day is 2 weeks before Thanksgiving this year and I > LOVE chocolate > cake! so buy yourself *one* piece of chocolate cake!! really, have a slice, just dont eat the whole thing. one good thing (see? gotta stay positive..lol) about halloween is that the chocolate bars are tiny... i can eat just one and not feel too badly. > I'll buy the killer pants suit I saw in the Spiegel > catelog instead. cut the picture out and put it on the fridge or kitchen cabinet! *~*~*~*~* Carolyn in ONT Canada
Guest guest
Carolyn, " Stop the Insanity " was the first book that I read when I decided to change my lifestyle two and a half years ago. I love it!! I'm ready to pick it up and read it again, it's very inspiring Darcy --------------------------------------------- This message was sent using Midwest Tel Net Web Based Mail. http://www.mwt.net/

Guest guest
yes, like i said, she does have a way with words. im still struggling in coming to grips with her eating suggestions though although so far, her book is the most inspiring and least painful (in terms of changing what one eats) to read! her journey to fitness, which she details in her book, is definately inspiring. i wonder where she is now??? *~*~*~*~* Carolyn in ONT Canada RE: > " Stop the Insanity " was the first book that I read when I decided > to change my > lifestyle two and a half years ago. Guest guest
Thanks, ! This group is so amazing. If I survive until the end of the month with my challenge, I'll be satisfied. Maybe my goals are unrealistic at this point, but I'll do my best. Thanks again!!! In a message dated 10/13/2002 11:40:25 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Agaw12577@... writes: > , I feel your pain girl! Guest guest
JenMarie, Go outside and run around your building if you have to. Stressors can be combatted with good planning and strategies. Do you have crunchy food? Carrots, celery, apples...youo get the picture. Go get some ice to crunch on if you can. I feel your pain. I am a clinical social worker and work with very difficult issues with my clients. Sometimes I feel suffocated by the many seemingly insatiable needs of my clients and my practice. But I am in control of my own ship and find ways to let off steam. (And I'm not perfect...I will have the occasional food binge or off-plan behavior) Remember your goals. You will draw strength from them. If they are not written down, then write them down tonight! And remind yourself, too, this shall pass and become a faded memory. Make the best choices now that you are able. Have a fabulous weekend! Kelley
