Jen,

I have TMJ problems.....am just about to have a jaw joint replacement

operation.....nearly unheard of here in the UK. I'm not telling you that to

scare you...just to reassure you that something can be done...if indeed it come

to that. I have been treated conservatively for it for about 5 years so you are

a long way off that but hang on it there. You know, it may all clear up with the

infction too. The TMJ is one sensitive joint. It seems to get hacked off quite

quickly if upset in any way!My surgeon said that TMJ problems only happen if

you've got some kind of arthritis or have some kind of trauma to it so it's just

another joint that can be hit like any other when you're having a flare.

I know it hurts though so am thinking of you. Let us know how you get on.

Best wishes

Kate UK

It really is never-ending.

Well, I went to the rheumy last Thursday for my follow-up for the new medicines.

The naproxen didnt help as much as the voltaren was helping, but she says my

stomach and liver cant take the voltaren, so now I am taking mobic. Also, the

anti-depressants didnt seem to make much difference so she switched that to

pristiq and its too early to tell. I mentioned at my appointment that I felt as

if I was getting a sinus infection and she told me to go to my primary for that.

I never made it to the primary, I had to go to the ER late Thursday night

because I was in so much pain I was vomiting and my face was so swollen on one

side I couldnt open my eye all the way. They did a CT scan and said that I had

one of the worst one-sided sinus infections they have seen in a long time. I had

to get IV antibiotics and then left the hospital with more antibiotics and pain

medicine. But of course it cant just stop there. On Sunday night, I could no

longer open my mouth and my nose was p ouring blood so I went back to the ER.

They injected my TMJ with steroids and numbing stuff that made it feel better

for a few hours. The bleeding was from the infection but now Im supposed to make

an appointment with an oral surgeon about my tmj because the injection is a

temporary fix. I can open my mouth a little bit now, not really enough to even

chew food. The injection has started to help with the pain, which is good, but

Im still just wondering how this all happens so fast! All of these problems at

once just really gets me down. Anyone else have TMJ problems? Did they come on

this quickly? And what can I do to ease this pain in my jaw some? Thanks

everyone.

I can not say any thing about TMJ as I never had it but boy my jaw hurt like

blankety blank with the sinus infections I used to get years ago. funny thing is

now with stills I have ever had problems with them tell this year and now there

back . so maybe its all from the infection and the pressure it has put on that

area .I know they give me head acks were I wish some one would cut my head off .

in my whole life I would place sinus trouble at almost the top of the list for

pain and hated things

Hello everyone! I'm happy to say that my sinus infection is FINALLY getting

better. Still have a very snotty nose, but the pain and pressure are just about

gone except when I first wake up in the morning. Also, seems that the TMJ

problems were coming from the infection since my jaw is now 100% better. Im not

happy to say that all of this trouble with my sinuses seems to have caused a

minor flare. Im so swollen and stiff I cant stand it, especially my hands and

wrists. On another good note though, the pristiq is working wonders on my mood!

I am very glad to finally be feeling a little bit optimistic and not so

depressed all the time. I just hope that they will continue to give me samples

until I can get health insurance. Also, I start school full time next week,

which means I can get health insurance again!!!!!!!!! That will lift so much

stress from me, as Im sure all of you know that its expensive to have Stills.

Hope everyone is doing well this morning.
