Guest guest
Dear le, It sounds like hitting your head on the floor brought on your Chiari symptoms. We also have a few members in my family with Chiari and syringomyelia. The worst case is my daughter, who has had multiple neurosurgeries since diagnosis at age 9 in 1994. She also has had acquired tethered cord, has arachnoiditis, and the list goes on. I will be thinking of you as you await the results of you son's MRI. I hope you will share them with us. Best wishes, Barbara In a message dated 5/25/2011 2:43:35 P.M. My mother has already had decompression surgery and I also have Chiari. It seems to run in our family and my son has been experiencing some of the symptoms on a regular basis. He is very nervous about finding out if he has it or not, but I think it's time to find out one way or the other. Would love to hear from other Mom's who have Chiari and there children have it too. I am interested in everyone's replies though. I know most people post what they have etc and all these letter combinations, but one of my main issues along with others is memory and headaches. I have had them since I was 12 and hit the back of my head on a commercial carpet covered concrete floor during a karate class. We were being shown a new take down technique and were told to wait before trying. I was looking in the other direction and my brother (who was my partner that day " SWOOSHED " and took me down hard. I don't remember getting up, changing into my regular clothes or walking to the car, but I was told I did it all myself. My father for whatever reason refused to take me to the docs to be checked out, since I was at his house for the weekend...I told my mother when I got back on sunday, but at this time they had not found her chiari yet. It took her 25 yrs to find out what was causing all these issues. Anyway, since that day I have not lived a day without a headache on a scale from 1-10 I have had at least a 2 every day. Then I get migraines 2-3 times a yr. They tried to diagnose me with migraine syndrome as they did my Mom way back, but migraine meds only made me tired and didn't help the other issues. Finally I found a doc to order an MRI and they found it. There is a little bit of my history. Now Hopefully and prayfully we will not find Chiari in my son. I am afraid for him because it stinks! le
