Guest guest
Hi all thought I would update you all, as many of you read Steve (cm 1, sm c1-t10) had his surgery on the 19th of April. After my last post on the monday I contacted his NS's secretary who told me they were aware of the situation and he would be here the following Monday and would see steve then. The next day however steve had, what we believe, was a seizure and was rushed to hospital. He was unable to walk and his right eye was facing the wrong direction. The neurosurgeon looked at the mri when he came last monday and said it was swelling once that went down everything would return to normal. But on the thursday he was taken to see an optimologist about his eye who then told him he has raised intercranial pressure which has damaged his optic nerve, all caused by this swelling which is now thought to have occured when he fell. He was put on steroids on fri to get the swelling down but this has failed, the one thing that is good is that he has had physiotherapy everyday and is making slow progress. So, so far, just over 2 weeks in hospital, and still not getting very far, but we will get there eventually. Liz Inverness, Scotland
Guest guest
Dear Liz, I am sorry that Steve has had these serious complications. Did he have decompression surgery when all of this happened? Could he have had a stroke and not a seizure? I hope his doctors quickly find a better treatment for his high intercranial pressure. Best wishes, Barbara In a message dated 5/25/2011 9:02:49 P.M.
