Can some long timers answer some of these questions have you had these symptoms are they still prevelant. I've been on ldn since april, 2004. I have changed from compounded capsules at 3 different pharmacies (all recommended on the ldn website), changed fillers and dosages. I now take liquid I make up from Revia tablets and I still experiment with dosage. I have been taking 3 ml for about a week now and it seems to be the best so far. It took me 9 MONTHS to see some bladder urgency relief. (On the ldn site it says to give ldn 6-9 months). I have not seen the symptom relief some have. Some days I feel more energetic than others, but I use a walker so I'm not able to do much anyway. I never had dreams of any sort that I remember the next day. Do now once in a great while. My sleep has always been erratic, before ldn and after. I usually get up every 2 hours to go the bathroom. I will continue to take it though b/c its main purpose is to stop progression and I think it has done that. The only thing I can suggest is to try it b/c it works differently for everyone. Don't think about all the negative things that MIGHT happen. Think about the good that it does, stop progression, and some possible symptom relief. I am going to try LDN even after the above. Your thoughts on the number of mg please (i have read 1,1.5,2.5,3.5,4.5,6 and 25).I have been prescribed with 4.5 mg this is what I am thinking of starting with. The tablets use an acidolplus filler which may help with constipation. One suggestion is to get 1.5 mg capsules, that way you can try 1.5, 3 or 4.5 mg. Some people do better easing into the maximum dose. Best of luck Arlene

Guest guest
I have been on LDN 5 1/2 months now. I understand your concern. It always seems that the negative voices can speak louder than positive ones. Not being troubled much by symptoms, I am no poster child for symptom relief from LDN. I had been on Copaxone for a year. I had one relapse while on Copaxone and the daily injections took a mental toll. On LDN, I have thoroughly enjoyed the frequent and vivid dreams. Also, my hair and fingernails are growing faster than before, though truthfully, I did not measure this so I cannot say for certain. One or two times I believe that LDN has contributed to wakefulness at night, but I have experienced no fatigue that I can attribute to LDN. I take between 4.5 and 5 mg / night (liquid method) and am thrilled with many aspects, not least the cost. (I will pay $10 copay for 90 50mg pills - a 2.5 year supply) I am so grateful to have come across this group and this drug. Not everyone experiences it the same way, but everyone should know about it and at least consider using it. There is no doubt in my mind that for some people, LDN is a miracle. www.nathankennard.com [low dose naltrexone] Is LDN worth the effort I have just got my prescription for LDN TODAY and am preparing to send it to a pharmacist. Guest guest
pllcmj, have just got my prescription for LDN TODAY and am preparing to send it to a pharmacist. I am concerned. The messages I have just read are quite negative. I am looking mainly on side effects eg. vivid dream, May occur the first two weeks. lack of sleep, May occur the first two weeks fatigued and constipation...........Been on LDN 4.5mg for 2 1/2 years...neither of these have occurred. I am not on crab drugs been dx with ms for 14 months and it is very active. I sleep around 6 hours a day now could this get worse. I had immediate ymptom improvement the very first night. I have constipation now due to MS but have been working on this with natural remidies going OK.I understand I may compound this problem. Not neccessarily. I don't dream this could be a positive. ...Most folks get the dreams. My MAIN reason for looking at LDN is that I read that it can give you energy. Now I am reading that it can zap your energy. Is this fatigue happenning becuse your body is getting used..............Never noticed any difference one way or the other. Guest guest
Hello and Everybody, Have you or anybody here come off Copaxone and if so, how did you do it? For example, did you slowly ease off? I have been on it for about 5 years, but now that I have been on LDN for a few months, am seriously considering coming off the Copaxone but am a bit scared. My biggest problems are lack of balance (couldn't walk a straight line to save my life) and spasticity in my legs. I have not noticed any improvements since taking the LDN, but if it has stopped the progression of MS, then it's worth its weight in gold! I just ordered GABA and MSM online to help with the spasticity too. Anyways, back to the Copaxone. Please let me know if any of you have come off of it, how you did it and how it went. Thanks for your help! >From: " Kennard " <nathan@...> >Reply-low dose naltrexone ><turnerpllcmj@...>,<low dose naltrexone > >Subject: Fw: [low dose naltrexone] Is LDN worth the effort >Date: Tue, 6 Dec 2005 08:09:55 -0700 > >I have been on LDN 5 1/2 months now. The messages I have just read are > quite negative. __________ Here is positive results from LDN. Dec. 17 will be a year since I started. I ordered Revia from www.medsmex.com and started the crushed method until June 2005. I had most my symptoms from one brain lesion go away first week on LDN but still had major fatigue. I started the liquid method of dissolving 50mgs of Revia with 50mls of distilled water and taking 4.5mgs. Next day I had so much energy I could run a marathon. Lost 10lbs also which I think that happens from the endorphin rush and extra energy and someone here mentioned ldn can be like a diurectic. A few of those pounds came back later. Last MRI in June 2005 my brain lesion was stable which means inflammation is gone. I still have some numbness which somedays I don't feel much and other days I do. I got a script from neuro but they called in the generic naltrexone and within 3 weeks I had symptoms back and could tell it wasn't working. I went back to the medsmex Revia and it took a month but got symptom relief again. I don't have the rush I had at the beginning of the liquid method but I'm not majorly fatigued like before. I'm taking 5mgs now and may try 4.5mgs again. Rhonda

Guest guest
I have been on 4.5 mg of LDN from Skip's (avicel filler) for 18 months. I started at that dose (no "ramping up" as some have done). I experienced a little stiffness the first night, but not any since then. I sleep about 7 hours a night. I have never been on any of the crab drugs. LDN has had no effect on my constipation issues. I believe my energy level is better on LDN, but my main reason for taking it: no exacerbations in the 18 months I have been taking it! Give it a try! Guest guest
Hi, My name is Kathy. I have been on LDN since Dec.17/03. The 25mg is only good if you are having an exaserbation. Not everyoone has sleep problems. The vivid dreams I had were good dreams. I sometimes get nausea but if I eat something bland it goes away. From the first day of starting LDN my fatigue was gone. I use to sleep 14 -18 hours a day before LDN now am only sleeping 8-9 hours a day. I did not become constipated. That happens to some but not all. This drug is very individualized. Until you try it you won't know how YOU will react. Anything under 3mg will not stop progression of MS. Most but not all women do best on 4.5mg and most but not all men on 3mg. LDN has kept me out of a wheelchair and still able to see. I will be on LDN until they have a proven cure for MS! I took Betaseron and went downhill fast. So think hard before doing the CRABs. All of them are by injection and LDN is pill or liquid. I hope this answers your questions. The long timers will still have the odd bad day but have more good days then they use to have.
