Guest guest
Hi there. I have been working with my Dr for over a year to find safe treatments during pregnancy (I'm now 5-6 weeks along). My Rhuemy told me in other countries they stay on plaquenil during pregnancy, however in the US it's more vague. I chose not to take it simply bc plaquenil alone is not going to do all that much to keep my disease in check. It mildly helps me, but not enough for me to choose to stay on it. For every mom, it has to be a personal decision as to what is best for you and your child. I am taking prednisone and so far so good! Best to you!!! Guest guest
Hi! First off, best of luck to you as you try to have a baby!!! I can't tell you how thrilling it's been to find out I'm pregers! It's been a year and a half of planning finally fulfilled! So when I started a year & a half ago I was on: Kineret, plaquenil, methotrexate, celebrex, vicodin, trazedone, lyrica & prednisone. I went off each med at different times (mtx first as it takes a year to get out out of your system) until I finally got down to 40mg of prednisone only. They say prednisone does not " cross the placenta " or enter the babies blood stream. So it's considered to be a safer drug during preg. Of course I'd like to be off of it as well but better to take pred & control the disease than not take it and flair really bad. Here's some great news: pregnancy often causes remission in Autoimmune diseases. And so far so true for me!!! Ive been doing so well I've decreased the pred to 18mg! I hope to get lower! Pray that continues! I want nothing more than to meet my healthy happy baby!!! Let me know if u have more questions, I'm living it right now!
