It is not uncommon for symptoms to return after decompression, as there is

no cure for Chiari malformation. Your neurosurgeon may tell you that your

MRI's look good, even though you are having symptoms. Your doctor might also

want to check your CSF pressure. Don't be shy about calling you

neurosurgeon back and telling him that your pain is so excruciating that you

need

something to be done now. The Thanksgiving holiday coming up might be why you

won't see him until 12/1.

Best wishes!

Ok I had the chiari surgery nov of 2009 and a couple weeks ago I started

getting really bad headaches again sharp and thumping ones. Everyday and some

are worse than others like today I was woke up at 3am hurting so bad I was

shaking so I took my med and it hasn't stopped and now my eyelids are

swollen. My script for my mri should arrive today or monday from my neuro dr.

The ringing in my ears and runny nose has started up again also so my

questions are is it possible for my brain to descend again and could I have

fluid

built up? I am in a lot of pain and I had talked to my dr thurs and they

said we will order the mri and then u come into the office dec 1. I am just

so confused idk if I can wait that long I know if I go to the er I will

just be given iv meds and sent home that's not what I want. So I am just going

to wait until the mri.

Dear ,

Has he been checked for syringomyelia? Has he had decompression surgery? Does he

have a neurosurgeon who specializes in these disorders? This is important

information to know to start with. I hope we can help you here!
