Ruthie slept throught the night from the day she got home from the hospital

until her heart surgery...like from 10pm until 8am every single day, plus

some naps in there. I don't know if it had anything to do with her having DS

or not, but she sure was a good sleeper.

After surgery was a nightmare, she was up anywhere from 6 to 10 times or

more every night. Then I had to do one of our cleaning jobs for a while and

I was only getting 6 hours a night myself...and that was interrupted all

those times. I truly didn't know what tired was until those months.

She finally is a better sleeper again. If she naps, it's for a couple of

hours (she's 28 months and only naps a few times a week) then she goes to

bed about 10 and gets up around 8. If she doesn't nap, she'll fall asleep

between 7 and 8 and get up at 8am.

It is common for Ds kids to sleep allot when they are first born. Their muscle

tone is so low that it takes allot of energy to feed and they get tired very

easy. My Phoebe was so floppy that I could not even arouse her to eat. She had

to have a gtube to give her proper nutrition. I remember thinking that she

would just be this blob of a child for the rest of her life. I was so wrong.

She is one happening babe now. She is rockin and rolling and making her way in

this world.

Have you had thyroid testing

done? I heard sleeping a lot

was a possible sign of

problems. Not sure, I have a

good sleeper and she has no

thyroid problems.

My Sammy will be 2 next week.

When she was very little she

slept great, from 10 pm to 5

am by 3 weeks. As she got

older and more active she had

a harder time sleeping through

the night. We also had some

issues with nasal allergies

and reflux. When things are

well, she sleeps from as early

as 7:30 pm to as late as 8 am

the next day. Usually she

sleeps 8 pm - 7 am. She still

takes 1 nap a day from an hour

to 2 hours. She was taking 2

naps a day until about 15

months...then she settled into

the once daily naps. On the

days when she plays through

her nap she goes down and

stays down all night.

Sleeping

a lot

My little angel is about 3

months old now and she still

sleeps after

each feeding and also for 6

hours at night. Is this

because she has

ds? Does anyone elses child

sleep a lot?

Karin - My grand daughter is almost 4 months old (non-DS) and she shares a

sleep pattern with . My daughter gets nothing done on most days.

Hayley also continues to get up during the night. She sleeps much better

when she sleeps with grandma ;)

My son with DS slept alot when he was a baby - it was hard to wake him up at

times. Now he sleeps very little and has to take a sleeping pill at night.
