Hey ,

Dr. B has a good video about shunts on the TCI website.  I'm sorry but the

truth

of the matter, a lot of things can go wrong with shunts.  The size of

ventricles

have a big part in how often you can have problems.  Like Dr. B says, don't get

upset at the shunt, just get it fixed.  It's just one of those things in life,

can't live with them and can't live without them.

Take care & God bless,

Subject: anyone have a shunt --I have a question

let me give you a bg quick- march 09 chiari reared its ugly head (suffering all

my life never knew it) it exploded on its own without an accident necessary-so

anyway long story short 0ct 09 i had decompression surgery,19 days later i had a

shunt installed under emergency situation- it took roughly 8 weeks after getting

the shunt of being in and out of the hospital before it was set right...about 2

mths ago i started getting pressure headaches again, and was experience some

motor delays-got in touch with the NS who installed shunt, been back and forth

seeing him and today he said he doubts its the shunt causing me the headaches

when i asked what it could be he flat out said he doesnt know- he has in the

last month and a half turned my shunt down twice i started at 2.5 and today i am

down to 1.5. and playing the waiting game. I am wondering what else could be

wrong? I have a headache that will NOT go away. any suggestions?? Iam just so

aggrivated

thanks

It occurred to me that maybe you never should have been shunted in the first

place! This would explain why you feel terrible, and your doctor is digging his

heels in about removing it.

This happened to me!

I had my shunt disabled at my insistence in January, and a large portion of it

removed, and so far so good!

I need to go back now and get the rest of it out.

What are the details of your emergency that caused the shunt to be installed?
